Once upon a time, Cat and Dog were Wild. They were bitter enemies, natural enemies, and always enemies, but they had to tolerate each other’s existence. Now, Dog wasn’t too terribly quick, but he could hear a pin drop from miles away. He overheard man talking, and he didn’t like what was being said. Even though he absolutely despised Cat, he knew she had to hear what Man had said.
“Cat! Cat! I heard Man saying they wanted to Tame us and make them our ‘pets’!” Dog paused. “What do you think a ‘pet’ is?”
Cat calmly licked her paw and even seemed to smile a bit, which was considerably odd under the circumstances. “Whatever a ‘pet’ is, Mutt, I have a feeling we do not want to become that, if it has to do with Taming us.” She purred.
Dog nodded. “But what can we do to stop Man?” he asked, panting and slobbering all over the place.
Cat smiled again. “I have a plan, Mutt, but we will need to work together, no matter how much we despise each other.”
Dog agreed. He didn’t understand what Cat had told him of the plan, and he was afraid that Cat would use this “plan” to get rid of him. Instead of following Cat’s instructions, he spent his time building a trap for Cat. Cat, on the other hand, noticed that Dog was not following her instructions and was afraid that Dog had made a deal with Man to get rid of her, so she set up a trap for Dog instead of following her own plan! Soon the time came to execute the plan, and neither one was prepared! They both ended up in each other’s traps.
Man soon found them both, smiled, and said, “Your paranoia has caused you both to capture each other, when I might not have been able to.”
So, you see, if Cat and Dog had learned to trust each other, settle their differences, and work together, they would still be Wild to this day.
