Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

This novel was unlike anything I have ever read before. It's about an autistic boy who tries to solve the murder of the dog next door.

When I read it, I laughed and cried, sometimes at the same time. It is very touching, and the reader can really see how someone with autism thinks.

One thing that really struck me was how, although the main character does not notice other's emotions, the reader can still understand how the other characters are feeling.

I highly reccomend this book. It is quite unique.

I, too, thought it was a very good book indeed. However, it has caused me much annoyance: some people think they know everything about autism after reading it, saying stuff like "They're all brilliant at maths." I have several autistic friends and can tell you that none of them is anything like Chris.

Even so, the book is very good, I love how the chapters are numbered.

I only read it because of the title, being a devout Sherlockian. It was alright, nothing special, and it wasn't anything I'd read again or recommend to anyone. Perhaps I missed the point, but I didnt think it was that great.

I totally agree with you, Ofour. I have a cousin who suffers from mild autism, and math is not one of his strong suits. However, he is a decent speller, and he has the most amazing memory I have ever seen. He knew the stats of every hockey player in the NHL before he was five. He's very shy, but likes to call adults by their first name, including his parents. He's not exactly what you would expect to find in an autistic child, and once he's comfortable around you, he is a sweetheart. I should know, I'm his favorite cousin!!

Yes, Mark Haddon wrote this book so very movingly. It is grand. It’s funny thing that the plot isn’t very complicated but the readers are captivated by the unique narration of the book and the different outlook Christopher has for the world.

Also, the chapters were only numbered with prime digits — another novelty!

I did like this book, but it isn't one of my favourites. I read it before it was hyped up, which I'm glad of otherwise I may have been slightly disappointed. Nonetheless, it's a good read and I would recommend it.

I'll admit, if this wasn't my summer reading book this past summer, I would have put it down after about a quarter of the way through. It was decent, but not that great, in my opinion.

I loved it because it was just so original and quite educational at the same time.

It was amazing. I don't think i have anything else to say that hasn't already been said, though.

I was on chapter like....64 when the new harry potter came out today so I postponed it until I've finished HP. It's OK, but forgettable and some of it is a bit 'much'. I won't judge too much until I've finished it though. It's nothing like his first book.

I read it and I loved it. It was amazing, moving, bizarre, and really gave me an insight into another world. I really liked how in the middle of a paragraph he put a diagram or a joke or a story or a picture. And the chapters were all prime numbers! (I liked the plot thoguh the most. Never woulda guessed it was the father!)

When i read this book i was slightly annoyed at first and really confused about the point of the story but as it went on, it grew on me. I found myself unable to put it down. Instead of being annoyed by the short uninvolved sentences, i grew to appreciate the writing and the characters much more. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a unique book.

I read this but I didn't really enjoy it.

It's not that I have anything against the book. I think i was more the fact that everyone goes "OMG, you must read this, it's amazing!" and I felt sort of let down.

I had never heard of it until my mum randomly found it on a shelf in a B&B we stayed at in africa. But I read it, and I quite liked it. I wouldn't say it was the most fantabulous book ever, but I did like it. I liked how he had all his colour association things ... that was interesting.
