Just noticed the typos.... give me a break, I'm too tired to fix them.
Chapter 1
"Hey freeloader," I say, running towards the couch where my twenty-one-year-old sister Meygan was being lazy. I jump over the back of our shabby old couch, landing right next to her. "When are you moving out?" I ask, stretching out to hog the tiny blue couch.
"Gah," she says pushing my legs off the couch, "Good morning to you too," she adds flatly. She looks down at my new skinny camoflage pants, obviously forgetting she was mad at me.
"Where'd you get those?" she says looking down at her dark jeans and bright blue tank top. That girl was so skinny and muscular, she looked like a bulimic Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"Hah," I laughed, "you'd look like a toothpick on a hunting trip!" Meygan pushes me off the couch, a frown on her face.
"Someday I should just take you somewhere and leave you there! Gah, just grow up!" she whines. Of course, that would never work. When you have seven brothers and sisters who have your same round green eyes and light brown curls, everyone could find them.
"Where is everybody anyways?" I ask smoothing the wrinkles out of my pants. It's scary quiet today, I'm always used to someone playing the guitar, watching cartoons, or killing each other, that our house was kind of lonely.
"Well Mom took Julia and the twins to the park, Julian is at the skate park, Jacob is with that ho Mandy," she says scrunching up her ski-slope nose and biting her pink lips, "And Tyler..." she says thinking about my fourteen-year-old brother. He was the nicest to me out of them, but also the hugest trouble maker. Meygan starts back up again, "Who the hell knows where Tyler is. Probably out robbing a bank with your boyfriend,"
Yeah, I wish. "KYLE IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND!" I yell annoyed, "I'm going to Mia's," I add as I slip on my Vans and trot out the door.
I pedal furiously down the street, going the opposite direction of our shabby little wood shingled house. Mia's house was only down the street, but I decided to get there as fast as I could, away from the eerie silence of my house.
When I pull up to her driveway, there aren't any cars. I groan, and go to knock on the door of their two-story brick house. No answer except from her golden retriever Willie.
"Crap," I mutter, turning around quickly, but before I walk down the two steps, the door flies open, and a person shouts "Hello?!"
I fall onto my but as I scream, and the person at the door screams.
"Gosh Ava!" he says, blushing behind black framed glasses, "You freaking scared me!"
I stand up, brushing the dirt and little rocks off my butt, "Ditto. What the heck are you doing here alone anyway Kyle?"
He fluffs up his black-brown hair, looking down at his black tee-shirt and super tight girl jeans. When Tyler wears tight and skinny girl jeans, it's just creepy. But when Kyle wears them, oh my gosh!!!
"I'm not alone, Tyler is here too, Just with Mia in the basement," he says still looking down nervously
WHAT? Why is he in the basement with Mia? Better yet, why is Mia in the baement with him? Why is my best friend in the basement with the guy I called dibs on? Why is she in the basement with any guy? Gosh, We promised each other that we wouldn't be skanks. And what does she do?
"Why is Tyler here too? So he could critique you on your kissing Mia skills?" I say, trying to sound calm and not hysterical.
His whole face turned bright red, including his ears. Now normally, this would have been pretty cute, but I was FURIOUS.
"No! No," he squeaks out, trying not to laugh, "I wasn't kissing Mia, I'm just screwing---"
"WHAT?" I blurt out, cutting him off. Kyle starts cracking up.
"I'm screwing around on the PS2 Ava!" he says, but then his voice gets serious again, "Didn't Mia or Tyler tell you?"
SURE you were playing video games you jerk!
I scrunch up my eyebrows, "That you like video games?" I ask, confused. I look around, the sky was getting grayer and grosser by the minute.
"No Ava," he laughs, "Well I guess you'll get to figure out yourself," he says, grabbing me by the wrist, and pulling me inside so fast I have no time to object.
We stood at the top of the stairs, my helmet still on. Kyle's hand was on the door knob, looking like he was contemplating whether we should go down.
"What I'm going to show you might be shocking," he said, trying to be serious, but sounded more like a newscaster.
"Oh gosh Kyle," I say nervously, feeling like an idiot wearing a helmet inside, with a cute boyt next to me, "There better not be a dead body down there! I'd hate to turn you in but..."
He snickered and said "There might be someday... mine! Your brother's probably going to kill me for showing you."
I sighed, "Show me what?" I was getting really impatient... not that I ever was patient in the first place. I was still pretty sure that Mia was going out with Kyle behind my back.
"Come on," he whispers as he pulls open the door.
We walk down the long flight of stairs, and I hear my brother and Mia laughing hysterically. They were probably playing video games or something while they waited for Mia to backstab me and kiss Kyle.
I couldn't believe they would lie to me. I look at the pictures of rainbows and ponies Mia and her older sister painted when they were little didn't seem so cute anymore.
As soon as she saw me, she'd be begging for my forgiveness.
I thought about that for a moment, and then we were down stairs, standing at the little hallway before we got to the family room. Kyle led the way, but stopped right at the archway. He motioned for me to come peek around it.
I heard Mia say "Kyle is that you?"
I hadn't even moved, because I was too busy wondering what could be so important that he had to show me. He waves his hand to come again.
I walked over to him, and peeked around the corner.
"NO---" I blurted, but Kyle's hand clung across my mouth, trying to keep me quiet. But how could I be quiet?
There was my brother Tyler all snuggled uo and lovey dovey with my best friend. Were they going out without telling me? This was waaaay to wrong.
I stormed into the room, and the two of them screamed.
Kyle was trying to pull me away, but I was so mad my stomach didn't even get all fluttery when he put his hand on my shoulder.
I yanked off my bike helmet getting ready to beat the two with it.
"Do you two have some secret love life behind my back?" I yelled, "GAH! You two always tell me everyting, but now what do you do?"
Tyler and Mia had jumped to seperate sides of the couch, and Kyle had taken my helmet from me so I wouldn't kill anyone.
"Dude... I can't believe you guys didn't tell her..." Kyle mumbles as he sits down in the recliner.
"Shove it Kyle!" Tyler yells, and looks at me, "Ava, Mia and I decided not to tell you, so you wouldn't freak out on us."
Mia nods, the both of them looking super guilty, "I mean we love you to death, but I don't think this is any of your buisness. We shouldn't have to apologize! Besides, we've only been going out for two weeks."
"Two weeks!" I say shocked, "Two days ago when you spent the night, we were talking about who our first kiss should be, and you probably already kissed my asshole brother didn't you?"
My brother looked like he was hiding in his black and red sweat shirt, and Kyle was shifting in his seat nervously, my helmet in his lap. They both were silent.
Mia ran her her fingers through her straight blonde hair and sighed.
"Yes... but I really didn't want you to feel bad. Why are you trying to make us feel guilty? Shouldn't you be happy that I finally have a boyfriend?" she looked mad. She stood up, smoothing out her jean skirt, "I don't see why you're getting so worked up about this? Your a huge hypocrite! You like Kyle, which is pretty much the same thing as your brother liking me! Gosh Ava, you need to grow up!"
I gasped. I looked towards Kyle, who's eyes pretty much looked like they were going to fall out of his head. Tyler had gotten next to Mia again, and he was nodding with agreement.
"You know what? She's right! Just because you're too rude and immature to get a boyfriend, doesn't mean she can't!" he said.
That was it. Even my own brother had turned on me. I ran up stairs, and outside.
It was raining. The sky was almost black, and it was barely eleven'o'clock. I looked towards my soaked bike and remembered that Kyle still had my helmet, and I wasn't just about to go back inside.
"Dang," I sighed, sitting down on the soaking wet pavement next to my old blue bike. I wasn't really sad... just annoyed that all these secrets were being kept from me, and embarrassed because I just freaked out, right in front of Kyle, who now knew I liked him.
Here I am, sitting in the rain, pouting like a big baby. I really did need to grow up.
"Thought you might need this," said a soaking wet face with black framed glasses. Kyle sets my helmet on my lap, and shoves his hands in his pockets.
"They were really pretty harsh..." he said.
"I uh... have to go," I sighed, strapping on my helmet, and hopping on my bike. I petaled home, knowing it would take a hot shower, a cup of cocoa, a few insults to my sister and two hours of Full House re-runs for me to feel any better.
