Heres my first attempt at actual songwriting. This is for my ska band, we're called Funny Red Chair 8)

Can Superman Outrun The Flash

Has anyone ever wondered,
That if Superman had a chest of steel,
And was bullet-poof all over,
Then why did he duck when some threw a gun at him?

And another quick thought,
Does it really count as leaping tall building,
In a single massive bound,
If its not really leaping, its really him flying over them.

[Chorus]
All his super cool superpowers,
Apparently he was the ultimate,
But despite all this i reckon that,
Superman couldnt outrun The Flash

And when he turned back time,
Did he ever care to think maybe he shouldnt?
Just because he didnt like it,
Doesnt mean what was happening was bad for everyone.

[Chorus] x2

Eh, maybe a guitar solo or something in here.

[Chorus]
Gone, gone from New York City,
where you gonna go with a head that empty?
Gone, gone from New York City,
where you gonna go with a heart that gone?

to answer, Superman CANT outrun the flash. But when superman learns to fly, the flash says hes cheating! lol . Anyway, i think you have too many parts where the chorus is sang... try taking one of em out...

Argh it's so hard when you can't hear the music. I like them, I know it's ska but I could imagine Busted singing something like this. But still it's fun although I'm really not sure who the flash is! nevermind. But yes I'm rubbish without listening asI never listen to the words in songs. Not a good thing for a writer to do ey!?

Well, this is your luck day, I'm a Superman expert.

Firstly, "If its not really leaping, its really him flying over them" just points out the obvious, perhaps you should mock the fact that leaping a building is pointless when you can fly (and since you're using the classic introduction, when you mention he couldn't outrun the Flash, you could say something about the speeding bullet).

Overall, the song is kinda pointless. The title implies that you're going to explore the possibility Superman outrunning the Flash, but it only points out he can't in a single line, and the rest doesn't make references or analogies; each paragraph just questions and criticizes Superman, but they have nothing in common or build up anything. I mean, given the title, I'd expect any or all of the following:

a. Superman not outrunning Flash as an analogy of something bigger.
b. A reason why Superman can't outrun Flash.
c. Other situations, perhaps even more trascendental to Kal-El's life, in which he came late, or couldn't do the impossible (the time thing, re-arranged, could achieve the effect).

Read Pearl Jam's "Whale Song", it has a similar situation.

Tips:

*Superman can read at super speed and has photographic memory, but both Luthor and Batman can outsmart them.
*Superman can see through wall, but he didn't see that his buddies were the ones making his identity secret by mindwiping supervillains (check Brad Meltzer's "Identity Crisis" in wikipedia, a pivotal story that changed DC Comics).
*He can't defeat magic, see through lead or survive near kryptonite.
*Lobo and Darkseid (a god) are undefeatable for him (they are stronger), Parasite can steal his powers temporarily and Metallo has a heart of kryptonite.

Its a nice funny song that would be fun to record for fun. If you're making an album maybe have it as a bonus track but not on the actual record

I dont have any criticism except maybe write a second verse, maybe something more about superman or make it about the flash. The chorus being sang three times could be annoying depending on the music. A second verse is strongly recommended
