what the hell happened to guns n roses?

i've no patience for rnb and rap, i've never liked the stuff. boy bands are possibly lower in the list. The 80's were probably the best years, although some of the older bands are great, for other reeasons than killer guitar playing. *Like the stones.

my favourite bands (atrists) would have to be, in no particualar order:

Guns N Roses
Oasis
Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
Metalica (before their latest album, where theyjust became cool)
Queen
Nirvana
The Rolling Stones
AC/DC

First off, I hate rap. :D I've never known anyone else who despises it. I must be wierd or something. My bands...

Coldplay: yellow and clocks, of course
The Killers: somebody told me
Dasboard Confessionals: vindicated
GREENDAY: BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS!!!!!
Blink 182: small things, that other one they play all the time...can't think of the name '...[something]halloween on christmas, we'll have darkness in the valley, we can live like Jack and Sally if we want to...'
Avril Laveigne: everything, but especially; anything but ordinary, skaterboi (of course!), happy ending
Bowling for Soup: 1985!!!!, ohio [come back to texas]
Keen: (british band, have to give you that firestarter!) somewhere only we know
Jimmy Eat World: gosh I love that song but I don't know what it's called...
Scissor Sisters!!!!!: Laura
Good Charlotte: Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous (i officially love them after hearing this song...*sniff* so true)

And that other band that I can't think of right now...'i don't want to be anything other than what I been trying to be lately...all I have to say is think of me and my peice of miiind...' who sings that????

Has anyone else heard of scissor sisters? none of my friends have...btw, Firestarter, I haven't heard any on your list except for the killers. They rarely play anything except for your, quote, american crap bands...*lol*

well, im not exactly sure what you meant by that. Ill just give a summery of the bands history, hope it answers your question.

OLD GNR:
The band was formed in Los Angeles in June of 1985. It was formed by singer Axl Rose, lead guitarist Tracii Guns, rythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff Mckagan, and drummer Robbie Gardner. When Tracii Guns and Robbie Gardner couldn't attend the Guns N' Roses first concert, Axl Rose hired Slash (lead guitarist) and Stephen Adler (drummer). The band released two cds, Appetite for Destruction (1987) and G N' R Lies (1988), but after that Stephen Adler was kicked out for his inability to address his heroin addiction. Guns N' Roses hired a new drummer in 1990, Matt Sorum, and a keyboardist, Dizzy Reed. Then in 1991 they released Use Your Illusion I and II. During the 28 month world tour after releasing the albums Izzy Stradlin quite the band. He was replaced by Gilby Clarke. In 1993 Guns N' Roses released the album The Spaghetti Incident?, which didn't do as well as their previously released albums. In 1994 Axl fired Gilby Clarke. Paul Huge replaced him. Several members started up their side projects (such as Slash with Slash's Snakepit and Duff McKagan in the Neurotic Outsiders). In 1996, Slash quit the band, citing creative differences with Axl. Within the following year, Duff and Matt also left the band, which left Axl as the sole original member.

NEW GNR:
In 1998 Axl Rose returned to the studio accompanied by drummer Josh Freese (of the Vandals), bassist Tommy Stinson (formerly of The Replacements), guitarist Robin Finck (formerly of Nine Inch Nails), guitarist Paul Huge (aka Paul Tobias), and keyboardist Dizzy Reed. In 2000, avant garde guitarist Buckethead joined Guns N' Roses. Later in the year Brian (formly of Primus) replaced Josh Freese and they added another keyboardist, Chris Pittman. During 2002, guitarist Paul Huge left the band and was replaced by Richard Fortus, formerly of the band Love Spit Love.

A U.S. tour, the band's first since 1993, was planned. The tour got off to a bad start. The opening show in Vancouver was cancelled by the venue due to Axl not showing up in a timely manner. A riot ensued. Subsequent shows went on as planned. The tour was met with mixed results. Some concerts in smaller markets did not sell out, while shows in larger markets such as New York and Boston sold out in minutes. Due to a no show by Axl in Philadelphia and the resulting riot by fans, Clear Channel, the tour's promoter, cancelled all remaining shows of the tour. As of November 2004 the band has not played a show since their December 5, 2002 concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Despite Rose's protests, legal and otherwise, Geffen released a greatest hits album on March 23rd. Similarly, Cleopatra records released "Hollywood Rose: The Roots of Guns N' Roses" in early summer. Again, Rose failed to stop its release.

In March 2004 Buckethead left the band, causing Rose to cancel their May 30th appearance at Rock in Rio 4 in Lisbon, Portugal.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MEMBERS WHO LEFT:
Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum formed the band Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland (formerly of Stone Temple Pilots) in 2003. Izzy Stradlin continues to release solo albums and occasionally collaborates on songs with Velvet Revolver. Steven Adler tours with his band Adler's Appetite (formerly Suki Jones) and has plans to record with this band.

sorry if this isn't what you were asking for. I hope this cleared something up for someone, although it might be hard to follow with all of the names.
Clementine: This is it, Joel. It’s going to be gone soon.
Joel: I know.
Clementine: What do we do?
Joel: Enjoy it.”

Yay!!!! Now we can start a club! (Of course, it really does depend on the lyrics in the rap songs. If they actually have meaning, and are about something besides drugs, sex, and the like, I'll listen to them.)

ok, my fav. bands...

Bob Marley

Pink Floyd

Tracy Chapman

Jimi Hendrix

Nirvana

Led Zepplin

Eric Clapton

Neil Young

The Chili Peppers

And so many more you'd fall asleep reading the list.

Icecreamman, I know all about Guns N' Roses, they're my favourite band (hence the new avatar, it's Slash). I just meant they were one of the biggest bands in the '80s, and now no one even acknowledges them. I mean, they hadn't released an album for 10 years and still managed to arouse a crowd that would shame madona.

Axl really mellowed out in the end anyway, thats why Slash left. He wanted to make another rock album, but Axl wanted to go in a different direction. In my opinion, the fans stared to get brawly way back when they sacked Steven.
