My Hair

Hair press: out the door.
Let its metal plates decay.
I’m getting dreadlocks.

I call it a hair press, but it is also known as a flat iron, or a hair straightener

A humorous haiku I wrote, not about nature, but about my hair of all things. I thought it might be light hearted enough for everyone to read. And yes, I most likely will be getting dreadlocks. I still have time to think about it though.

Ah! That was fantasic. lol and funny, I can so relate to that. Sometimes I just want to throw my straightener to the wall and let my hair go wild for the heck of it. It's not like a straightener works on my hair anyway. I'd need so much heat....*shivers* it wouldn't be pretty. Great job! Simple, funny, and you're readers can relate to it.

I didn't expect it to be extremely funny, more like dry British humor or something. Or just light hearted in general, compared to everything else I've written. I know no one with dreadlocks.

Thanks for all the critiques Though, have to admit, "Heh!" isn't much of a critique, or a worthwhile comment....

When I get the dreads, I'll be sure to post pictures!

You know what? This is the first haiku that I've read that wasn't about nature. . . It's really good though, just because of that. I like things that stand out because they break the standards. It's good to be different, sometimes. (I don't know if that's what you were trying to do, but it's cool nonetheless!!)

Delicate, lyrical and very funny indeed. I am amused.
Technically, this is not a haiku, it is a senryu.
A haiku relates to nature, environment, usually they're pastoral in nature.
A senryu relates to humanity and is usually humourous or satirical.
What you have here is a perfect example of senryu.

GOOD WORK!

I don't have a straightener(not that i need it) but there are times when i feel like throwing my sisters straightener out the window cause it gets in my way a lot. When i say not that i need it i mean i do have long hair for a guy(shoulder length) but it grows straight.
