Here in America, I think those two terms are synonymous. I just learned this year what the difference was between England and Great Britain.

I think the UK has Northern Ireland as well. Britain is just England, Scotland, and Wales.

Emma, you didn't know that? Education these days. I suppose you can be excused because the name United Kingdom is hardly ever used. Britain is often now the name used informally so people often get mistaken.
