As you may already know, my name is Persephone, and I am a 19-year-old denizen of Juneau, Alaska, whose hobbies include drinking, reading excessively, smoking pot, writing, hanging out with hoodlums and, most recently, working two jobs.
What with all this reading, substance abuse and working, I seldom find time to write; or, rather, I often intend to write in what free time I have, but choose to do other things instead. Or nothing at all. On the bus, for example. This is when I usually plan to do some writing, but I invariably just turn my music up and stare out the window, or perhaps read a book. I keep telling myself that once I have my own apartment, I can settle down and get serious about this writing business, but, in reality, I know I probably won't. There'll be other things to worry about then.
So, I have a motivation problem. It's a common affliction. It really drives me mad, having these stories floating around in my head, so well-formed as concepts, but difficult to pin down in enough detail to record in writing. Recently, I've been going half-crazy, wanting to write, and not doing so.
"I want to write a story!" I'll whine; and it is true, I desperately want to. But I won't.
I wish NaNo came about more often. It's so much easier to get over that first hump when you have a deadline and a specific goal, reinforced because others are doing the same.
Let's see, a little extra...
My favorite authors, in order: HP Lovecraft, Piers Anthony, Ray Bradbury, Tamora Pierce, Edgar Allen Poe
My favorite books, also in order: The Phantom Tollbooth, Watership Down, 1984
Also, I play the viola as a hobby. Though I've lost my instrument, somehow... And those two jobs I mentioned earlier are at Bullwinkles Pizza Parlor in the valley, and Rainbow Foods, the hippie organic store, downtown.
I'm sure I'll think of more to say about myself later, but this is plenty enough for now.
