Welcome all, to And With A Bit Of Magic, or better known as bug world! This world and world has been in the mind for a long long time, and I'm overjoyed to share it with you. I finally got around to writing everything up into a roleplay format... thank the rp gods!

I'd be willing to add 1~3 spots depending on interest, if any others are interested I mean.

What this would look like right now would be:

Two weeks out from full cast, i'd like all character profiles out, and two weeks after that I'd like first posties!! Scheduling wise, i'd like to do that after people have character profiles done? And by that I mean I'd like to make the schedule only after we have CPs done. I know personally the only hiatus upcoming for me is during february, but i can talk about that later. I'll definitely write about what first posts will look like before that hiatus in case i am gone and you have questions.

The lore post will be right after this one! Uhh... hugs and kisses! Yay!

character profile template:
Code
[b]Name:[/b]
[b]Age:[/b] (20-25)
[b]Pronouns:[/b]
[b]Country of Origin:[/b]

[b]Appearance:[/b]
[b]Personality:[/b]
[b]Personal Strengths:[/b]
[b]Personal Weaknesses:[/b]

[b]Major Arcana Alignment:[/b]
[b]Minor Arcana Alignment(s):[/b] (You could take some of the examples I put in the lore post... or make up a cool new one! Just make sure to reach out!!)  (The Minor Arcana Alignment(s) do NOT have to be from your character's Major Arcana, they're similar to how college majors work, so how you could have someone who majors in say, finance, but has a minor in psychology)
[b]Casting Tool:[/b] (Do they use a staff? A book? Something else? Nothing at all?)

[b]History:[/b]
[b]Personal Accomplishments:[/b] (These can be small things, like finishing a series of a book, or large things, like being the first in a family lineage to do something, etc.)
[b]Personal Dreams & Goals:[/b]

history and world are enspoilered so that this post isn't a billion miles long.

The Arcana

seven major arcana, with the minor arcane vaugely falling under each category

reality:
object creation, teleportation, dreamweaving, hallucinations, pocket dimensions etc.

beliefs & motto: curiosity, exploration, theoreticality, "perception is just the first layer of what we call truth"

pursuit:
creation of organisms, healing, resurrection, plants, etc.

beliefs & motto: growth, change, life, "life is the beginning of all, it catalyzes everything else."

insight:
clairvoyance, astral projection, mind reading, shared emotion, pain linking/bonding etc.

beliefs & motto: knowledge, persepctive, truth, "it is better to be shown the light and have it sting than to wander aimlessly in darkness."

manifestation:
control of the elements, manipulation of emotion, forced command, wishing etc.

beliefs & motto: belief (lit.), everything will come if you wish hard enough, you are in control of everything in your path, control, "everything that you could do, you can do."

termination:
time control, death, lifespan control, disease control, supression of magic

beliefs & motto: finality, solitude, respect, grievance "with no end, a beginning becomes meaningless."

resolution:
enhancement magic, memory safekeeping, familiars, magic imbuing etc.

beliefs & motto: perseverance, relationships, bonding, "we are better together, and therefore stronger as one."

divinity:
the crudest form of arcana, strong and taboo. irreversable spells, very very very dangerous, and is barely taught (outlawed in most countries. (those under the HUP) even if not outlawed, the history books are so limited or lost to time that it's hard to learn anything about it.) from what we do know, sacrifice, body and mind alteration, blood-pacts, rumored also, in the past, to be able to change fate itself.

beliefs & motto: [lost to time]

common minor arcana studies:
dreamwalking - insight
charms and wards - resolution
time warp - termination
forced command - manifestation
minor healing - pursuit
teleportation - reality

The History
kind of rough around the edges... but shh

Spoiler
once this world had been created, civilizations sprouted all over the lands, and from it were born 7 sages, who defined the 7 magic alignments, reality, pursuit, insight, manifestation, termination, resolution, and divinity. each of them had created their own academies and spread their gospels and truths throughout Teros.

but, to all of their shock, the 7th sage, of the divinity alignment, had been corrupted due to their black magic. it started the largest war in the history of Teros. It took the power of the other 6 sages in conjunction to stop them. all of them faced heavy injury, but in the end, they came out victorious.

so Teros was peaceful once more. people long forgot the fear of war in the past and instead chuckled at it time to time while in a history class.

A century later, after many long years of normalcy and stagnancy on Teros, the First Great Epiphany occured --- originating from a scholar in what we now call Iira. She discovered a process called Thennys Vacuuming. A process necessary due to the fact Thennys can be stored inside of a person but once it is expelled, the Thennys dissipates into a vapor then settles into the ground, eventually being redistributed throughout resivoirs all over the lands crazy. It solved the problem by having mages be able to vaccum the Thennys back into their systems.

To do so, she combined two major arcana spells from resolution and termination and officially invented Thennys Vaccuming, and coined the terms "Sustaining" (as the action of Thennys Vaccuming (taking from the land/person/etc)) and "siphon" (to forcibly take Thennys from someone)

however, the hidden consequence of the First Great Epiphany is that because of the widespread siphoning and sustaining, Thennys began growing stale and unusable.... causing spells to falter, weaken, or outright hurt those casting them. Still, many to this day are Thennys Vaccuming... much to other's dismay.

A couple years later, the High United Powers was established, the presiding government of most of the countries in Teros currently.

which, 20 years later, lead to the Second Great Epiphany: Articficial Thennys. Made because of the staleness of the Thennys, a government researcher made a substance called Nova, an artificial Thennys. It worked fairly well, although it created slight discrepancies between spells that used Thennys vs. Nova (color, shape, size... effectiveness, in some cases.) Despite that, it became more and more widespread. This, in turn, TAINTED THE THENNYS SUPPLY. because of its composition, making more complex spells inelligible. (you need pure thennys to do complex spells) This is why nowadays the HUP is like "let's go to the core and get fresh Thennys!"

The World

Spoiler
Country: Lohae
Capital: Belcinus
Major Features: Boasting one of the largest metropolitan cities in Teros, Lohae is the epicenter of culture, trends, and invention. Holding it's annual "Festival of Curation", it brings in aspiring inventors, artists, or artisans, to show the world what they're made of. Despite this, there is a large underlying culture of black market, underground dealings, and gang culture. It's recommended to stay in the light and not go down any suspicious alleyways without a seasoned guide.
Major Feats: Home of most, if not all of the inventions in Teros, Belcinus rated Most Delicious Food of the Year! consecutively for 5 years. (The council who made this choice may or may not be from Lohae.)

Country: Girys
Capital: Onseirn
Major Features: Famous for its vast expanses of greenery and rolling hills, Girys is known for its large farming populous and delicious produce. Not to mention, they’re the leading force of layman’s magic, for those who are less fortunate and can’t afford to go to prestigious academies or universities. Peaceful and calm, cozy and sweet… just a little bit prejudiced against “newfangled” ideas. They still use messenger animals instead of machines!
Major Feats: Largest crop producer in all of Teros, great hikes and even better recreation oppritunities as some towns start gearing themselves more towards tourism.

Country: Aionas
Capital: Tar'vah
Major Features: Dry, vast, and oasis-abundant, Aionas' sandy dunes and smaller area attract some interesting folks and cultivates a starkly different culture. Low in Thennys and reliant on the HUP, residents of Aionas, while by technicality under their influence, residents of Aionas get the short end of the stick both politically and geographically. Politically, they're underrepresented, and often ignored in meetings. Protests do very little for them due to the other problem, being that due to their geographical standing, sandstorms and intense weather often prevents leaders from leaving their home country.
Major Feats: Beautiful touring season when the weather allows, intricate belowground water system, freshest water despite the persistent sandstorms. Underground housing!!

Country: Arkhael
Capital: New Vetaugh
Major Features: Tall towers and thick stone encloses the entirety of Arkhael, with rings seperating the different cities. Despite its afilliation with the HUP, it is one of the only countries still with a monarch, making it more specifically the Kingdom of Arkhael. As expected with the shelteredness that comes from being in the walls, Arkhael has a deep struggle with it's class divide and biases. Many of those in Arkhael, especially those of higher status, believe that magic should only be for those with prestigious degrees from some of the best academies in Teros, one of which being in New Vetaugh. Not to mention the recent legislation passed that prohibits the use of any divinity magic. A terrible thing, really.
Major Feats: Highest ranked academy in all of Teros, and the best of the best Gilded Mages hail from Arkhael.

Country: Esuvias
Capital: Gueyly
Major Features: Repurposed mansions of kings and nobles turned into sprawling markets, housing, and recreational areas, Esuvias is slowly recovering after breaking off from Arkhael. Formerly a territory, now a country in the eyes of many others, the ever-changing enviroment of the growing country is a great place for all to come. Being magic progressive, and possibly the most pro-divinity (even calling it the "Greater Arcana"), Esuvias is the freest in practice of magic, and has many systems to support those who are less fortunate and may not have had a chance to learn how to do so. Many scholars denote stark difference from Arkhael, and agree it has definitely been for the better. However, due to their progressiveness and attitiude towards the Greater Archana, Esuvias has been prohibited from reciving a seat on the HUP.
Major Feats: First country to officially, and vocally, accept divinity magic and teach it in academies. Also rated the "Best Country To Visit Before You Die" since its seperation from Arkhael.

Country: Dourin Confederacy
Nation: Mifra
Capital: Heroda
Major Features: The harbor, docks, and boats, are what come to mind when you think about the easternmost, and smallest, member of the Dourin Confederacy, Mifra. It's mainly a collection of coastline and islands off the mainland. Big on fishing, wildlife, and just pure vibes, Mifra attracts all kinds of people, especially those a little bit of vacationing. Tourism, and magic integrated into all kinds of mundane jobs, basically the busiest, and most popular among the Confederacy.
Major Feats: Coastal, great for fishing, swimming, almost paradisical.
Nation: Latos
Capital: Ajera
Major Features: Thick vines and thicker trees, with water to wade in beneath you and buildings that scale the trees are distinct features of the southernmost member of the Dourin Confederacy, Latos. those from Latos are known to be future diplomats or activists, due to their strong academy and stronger emphasis on responsible use of magic and Thennys. Latos is most heavily legislated out of all places on Teros, but aside from that, it has beautiful marshes and swamps, with most of the area it inhabits being covered in water. Often, those from Latos are sent to represent the Confederacy, seldom alongside others from Mifra, Iira, or Khur.
Major Feats: Most restricting, but safe, nation within Teros. First nation to implement anti-Nova laws.
Nation: Iira
Capital: Pexou
Major Features: Huge, riftlike gorges, and large expanses of geysers are scattered across, Iira, the northernmost member of the Dourin Confederacy. Although prone to flooding, and then long spans of time with drouts, Iira is stable, with many precautions taken to make sure its citizens are not decimated by rain or shine. It is also said that somewhere in the gorges, there lies a cave with a huge amassing of Thennys, with ancient relics and other such embellishments. But those are just old wive's tales. Probably.
Major Feats: Largest resivoir ever, first meeting point of the Great Sages. One of the least reliant on machinery.
Nation: Khur
Capital: Waelyi
Major Features: Huge, imposing evergreens with loads of bushes and brush are what define Khur, the westernmost, and largest, member of the Dourin Confederacy. With a large canopy above, and buildings placed precariously on the sides of them, Khur is known for its deep, interconnected archetecture and its further connection to nature beyond that, with Thennys-mutated animals roaming freeely throughout the forest.
Major Feats: Most construction materials are sourced from Khur, not to mention one of the best academies for Pursuit.

Country: Fueiyn
Capital: Ynn-ro
Major Features: The tall, mountainous, and snowy region of Fueiyn is not only the premire mining area of Teros, but also a wonderful place to go as a way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of other countries, as it is the least populated country on Teros. But don't let that statistic fool you, many of those from Fueiyn are passionately patriotic, and put an emphasis on competition and striving to be the best. From debate, sport, even to small things like children's games or cooking, it is always the goal to be the best. Whether that makes people more united or more divided... that's up for debate.
Major Feats: Strongest Gilded Mage EVER was from Fueiyn! There's even a statue in her honour. Great party culture and warm taverns as well.
