Every time I tell myself I will practice traditional art... I end up drawing something else digitally. I am still playing around with style and technique, so every piece I have done so far is a floating head that looks completely different from the other floating heads haha. This one is of me! I know, I'm not Glinda or any other form of blonde (my soul is blonde). I used to draw myself a lot more when I was younger, so it felt on-brand to draw myself again. Not entirely sure how I feel about this one, still figuring some things out! Think I'm gonna take a breather from digital art and my iPad and try to focus on studies in my sketchbook. Not that drawing primarily digitally is bad, but I find it easier for me to do anatomy studies on paper. Plus, I think it's beneficial to be skilled both on paper and digitally, and I don't want to stick to only 1 media. Pinterest has become a gold-mine for me in terms of reference material, and I feel like I am observing things a lot more artistically than I used to.

Had to draw my girl Princess Peach! I am pretty proud of how this came out! I did the initial sketch of the pose on paper and then transferred it to digital and finished it there. This is actually a re-draw of a re-draw! I did my original Peach drawing back in like 2014, then did a re-draw in 2018, and now this one. I will post the older versions (maybe) sometime soon. I am still figuring out what style I like, and this piece was fun to experiment with. Really glad with how the pose and colors came out!

Haven't drawn since Princess Peach. Why? Well, I find that when I draw, I AM TOO STIFF. I am also not intentional enough with my drawing strokes and not patient enough. I also feel like I do, in fact, need a reference. I am not at the point currently to draw poses/face angles from memory... and THAT'S OKAY. I have gotten hung up on finding "my style" but I really wanna study some more fundamentals of art like poses, face structure, and shading. I had so much fun doing the black and white head portrait I posted a few weeks ago, so I think I am going to try to stick to the same vein. Instead of jumping in and trying to do full pieces, like Peach, imma spend some more time enjoying the process, experiment, and trying not to be so stiff and hard on myself. I am still a very newbie artist! My husband has also challenged me to draw 1 thing a day, even if it's just a little scribble or some sort of practice. I think he can tell I really want to draw and I, at the core, enjoy doing it, and a lot of times I end up giving up or letting things fizzle out... (like my story idea AHH) so he is encouraging me to be consistent. Consistency seems to be my key word for 2026 in many aspects! I'll be posting here whenever I do something I think is worth posting haha

I have slowed down a lot on drawing, something I am not really happy about. However, I think I am going to pivot slightly and try to draw some birds, and focus on drawing traditionally for a while. Drawing still excites me, but at the same time, it's overwhelming just being aware of how much I need to learn and all that jazz so I hope I don't become too discouraged and quit!
