the yws holiday haiku collection

It’s that time of year again, and we thought it would be fun to celebrate with a little holiday haiku gathering! All month long, we'll be gathering original haiku inspired by December, its holidays, its magic, and the poetry that comes along with that. Whether your December is joyful, chaotic, bittersweet, or whatever else in between, this is your chance to capture it in just a few lines.
Just a few things to keep in mind first:
1.) No fonts, colours, or text effects that could otherwise affect how your poem is read. Keep it simple please!
2.) This could be a traditional haiku (think: nature), but I would suggest checking out this KB article all about haiku for your writing pleasure. Creativity is the heart of this collection! It should follow all of the haiku structural rules (three lines with syllables five-seven-five) though.
3.) Please submit only one poem! Your piece can be about anything that feels like "December" to you. We are accepting submissions until December 26th.
At the end of the month, I’ll be compiling the submitted haiku into a PDF collection, free for everyone to read and share. Think of it as a cozy literary keepsake. What's a better way to end off the year than with poetry anyway?
