Operation Firewall by Sana Pathan

☆ YA / Spy Thriller / Coming-of-Age ☆

Synopsis of the book:
17 year old Nova is kicked out of school for hacking into her principal’s email. She's sent to live with her strict uncle in the countryside. She expects this to be a boring summer with terrible Wi-Fi. But when her uncle disappears, she finds a hidden room in the basement, coded messages, and a burner phone with one instruction: Activate Operation Firewall. Suddenly, she’s being hunted, recruited, and trained by an off-the-books spy network—and she's the key to stopping an attack no one else sees coming. With a sarcastic team of teen agents and her hacking skills, the fate of the world now rests upon her.

My Camp Goals:
Because I’m going on a 10-day vacation in July, I’ve made my goals a little more flexible:
-Write 12,000 words during Camp NovMo
-Try to write at least 800 words per writing day
-Share weekly updates (and maybe some snippets!) in this thread
-Have fun and enjoy the process — even if things don’t go exactly to plan

This is my first time doing Camp NovMo, and I’m really excited to get into the heart of this story. I’ve written the first few chapters already (the first three are published on YWS—feel free to check them out and leave a review!). Camp NovMo will be the push I need to keep going and stay consistent! I’ll be posting progress updates and (probably chaotic) ramblings in my thread. Feel free to stop by :smt049

Oh man. This story looks so awesome. (Totally not biased because I am totally the aunt living in the boring countryside, lol.)

Good luck!!!

Day 1Update!

It was an okayish writing day overall, I am feeling proud of the progress I made! I managed to outline and write Chapter 7 of my book, which came out to around 800 words. Not my longest chapter, but it’s done and I actually like how it turned out! The vibes are just right, and it pushes the story forward in a fun (and slightly suspicious) way.

At around 11 P.M, I got a completely random burst of motivation and ended up designing two book covers for Operation Firewall! Did that count toward my word count? Sadly, no. But did it feel productive? Absolutely :smt049. I am thinking of making a few tweaks to them and uploaded them to the cover contest soon!

Overall, not a perfect start, but a solid one!
