Welcome To Our Cult - 4/2/25

the pretty scream to each other out of friendship
the squawkers have an album of playing dead
the blaring loud... blare loud
slides utter sounds of dissapointment, and a few farts
the spine, like mine, has a few farts as well
those without a tune bought all the donuts in the shop

Rhythm without Melody - 4/3/25

Tree country ain't people's favorite
but the music's good
Cities are crowded and stuffy
but the music's good
Not everyone dances
but the music's good
Not everyone is bilingual
but the music's good
now that rap over there?
that's just rhythm.

The Ritual - 4/4/25

The darkness keenly watches the circle of light
Emotions awaiting to be ignite
In the back, the drums roll
and the crowd in the light moves as a whole

Singing, they flow and swirl with the beauty of mother nature
long, beautiful, captivating movements torture
silent gasps to avoid the dark night
fingers flutter against the metal levers they fight

and in one, brilliant discordant scream
that manages to harmonize like a dream
the light radiates out to touch the audience
and when the circle stops dancing, the praise is obvious

Wow this really brought me back to my band days! I love the incorporation of counting and subdivision and just the use of so many evocative sound words in general. So fun!

surrounded by enormous piles of money." -Flynn Rider, Tangled

@Ventomology thank youu ^^ I'm glad it brought back those memories. My best moments are when I'm with the band

Maybe I'll Disappear - April 11

I try to fit in anywhere I can
but no one seems to want me
I walk alone, completely unnoticed
I am the odd note

It's so obvious to me
and to anyone who knows
but in the audience you can't tell
how lost I am

As a void I stare at anger
listening to the ranting
I must stay quiet
and let the right notes play

oh, I wish I could use the first amendment
but I have to conform
im standing out from the crowd
yet going unseen as if I am

I move from song to song
trying to find where I belong
im so used to being quiet
habit's hard to break

I thought I found my song
but I am still in the back
It might be time to move on
and go through the cycle again

Search Completed For Now - April 16

The odd note returns
just when I think I've found my song
it's again time for me to move along
no, i didn't belong.

supression leads to fortissimo
and shattering any harmony
with another note
and their harmonies

I think I've found my song now
it's a silly little tune
and we all harmonize
our dynamics going together just fine

Hello, Goodbye - April 24

I can't keep my rhythm,something is interfering
It's creeping down my spine into my heart
Red curls like the spiral of life
Going down, hitting each edge like a chromatic scale

Left on seen, I know you're busy
can't even manage a simple pleasantry?
showing up only to leave again
barely sparing the poor a glance, much less a coin

see the back of your hand, it's smiling
but the inside of the skull is seawater
there's no song to match this feeling
it's irregular, it's trying to play four four after swing

the cup shouldn't be half empty, let it drain
leave it dry as the desert
facades are up for a reason, especially for the user
shadows are always there and unnoticed

much less, what lurks inside them
don't open the case, there's nothing but cleaners
meant to wipe away the unwanted spit
wipe way from other eyes and my own

rust shouldn't be given the chance to fester
but sometimes I think I forget
is the guilt placed
shall I fade back to dust in the wind?

wonder when the person at the end of the line
will grow tired of making covers
quit playing their tunes
and forge his own melody

The Facade - April 25

You can't see the shadow behind the notes
The ones that contain the people
They wear a thick smiling coat
That's slowly revealing with the chipped layers
Trying to pour out their sorrows with sound

Just as Atlas cannot set down the sky
They must not let their tears roll away
Shrug it off, the pain will fade they say
They know it's right but it hurts so much in the moment

Where's my breath?
Swollen night consumes all sound
On impact it'll shatter on the ground
But they're still trapped in living death
In the shadow of the glorified.

Simple Joy - April 25

Give me shoes with holes
tattered pants from roughhousing
a light jacket unmatched to the winter
and I will dance in the rain

pitter patter on the tin roof, made with snaps
while I read a discarded and disintegrating book, with annotations on every page
splattering as it hits the dirt
splashing as my feet sink into puddles

become one with the water and earth
Let my shoes hydrate and feed my roots
travel up my pants, legs coming in contact with the dirt eagerly
and my jacket shall protect me until i sprout

up, up, and up
dancing and spinning with the sun
pulling me like a magnet into the sky
blooming forth into a beautiful sunflower

with the warm colors of a saxophone
my leaves soft enough to become the pads for any instrument
and in the soft breeze I can create a whistle close enough to a flute
which will be carried off by the wind for others to hear and sing

Mud - April 27

Walking down this path
with nothing but my bass and flute
and no one but my rock with googly eyes
the dirt is mud, pulling at my pedes
without a month's worth of rest

A messenger goes past me
running in the opposite direction
with every piece of paper comes the rain
as if the sea had turned upside down
the paper joins the mud, becoming thicker in viscosity

my head's filled with formulas
none of them are solving these problems
I've got to keep moving
if i fall, my hips will break
the mud will pull me down

a fossil encased in ground
they can read my bones
study my instruments
but they'll never know my full story
so i write it now in poetry

in such cryptic ways
spilling sorrow in what could be a song
maybe I'll read it later
with it's true meaning so you'll understand
but not right now, I don't know if you'll pull the rug

you've already done it once
and won't tell me why
curses stop me from sitting down
I just keeping walking away
the tree cover curling and blocking out the light

is there any city that's broken through?
I never wanted to go but maybe I'll have to
I'll sit on the side, plucking at the strings
pouring emotion into notes
or maybe lie here in the mud

just for a second to rest...

Blue - April 27

im so tired
flying doesn't sound so bad

yonder down my path
over there is there a home?
under the roof is there comfort?
resting doesn't sound so bad
even just for a few seconds

roads lead to nothing
ending dead in the middle of nowhere
a darkness in the walls
dim the sun
im working so hard
no rest for the wicked
good luck won't help enough

to defeat these demons
how am i to catch up
i can't stop now
stopping is to sink into the icy depths

how am i to survive
everything is against me
leaving me behind
playfulness turned to psychotic

my life rolls over the cliff
eager to hit the ground

psychotic grins as they hold the knife
leaving trails of changes
eating
at everything
smiles as they make the changes
erasing what used to be

End of A Soldier - April 28

drip, drip
beep, beep
rustling of pages
held in place
with pla-stic chains

i
don't
feel
the
pain

drip, beep
drip, beep
always black
everything goes in one side
and out the other

I'm floating in the air
am I still dreaming?
is this that golden dream
I saw long ago
drip, drip I don't feel my broken hip

beep, beep
drip, drip
paying for this oxygen
where is my wife?
I miss her

Every time I’ve gotten feedback that was hard to take it was usually hard to take because there was truth in it and I didn’t like that (or didn’t want to receive it). That’s not to say all harsh feedback is good or that we should be harsh for harshness’ sake, but learning to absorb truth without letting it break your inner core/break you is a lifelong skill that keeps your mind elastic and open to learning.
