Translation:
Azaleas

Unable to stand the look of me
When you leave, eventually
I shall let you go without a word

On top of Mt. Yaksan
Those bountiful azaleas
I shall pick an armful and scatter them on your path of departure

Each step you take
On top of those settled petals
May your feet gently stomp over them as you go

Unable to stand the look of me
When you leave, eventually
I shall cry no tears even if I were to die

Yaksan is a mountain in Yeongbyeon province of North Korea. It is famous for its bountiful azaleas that bloom

What are some of your favorite pieces of Japanese or Korean literature, and why do you think they deserve more recognition outside of their original languages?

@alicenthightower well first of all, i think most countries have pieces of literature that all deserve great amount of recognition. However, since I am more familiar with these two languages and various works from them, I feel that I am more qualified to talk about them than the others! Also, i think they deserve more recognition because 1. languages are fun and 2. there are so many gems hidden away because of the language barrier and with Hankang (a korean author) winning the Nobel prize in literature, it semi inspired me to look into more korean works that went untranslated that deserve just as much recognition.

I have many favorites but I recommend any works from the hyakuninisshu, a anthology of 100 classical jp poems that has turned into one of the biggest traditional card games in japan.

In the winter months, snowstorms and rainfall in the Patagonian Ice Fields can drastically affect the landscape. Worsened by heavy winds, such storms can reduce visibility and lead to glacial calving, ice collapses, and avalanches. During these conditions, travel is not advised.
