The Murmur Below

The town of Marrow’s Edge sits nestled between jagged cliffs and a churning sea, far from the reaches of modern civilization. It’s a place that feels stuck in time, where cell service fails and electricity flickers on and off as if it's haunted.

For the past few years, it has seemed that way. Strange whispers come from the sea, carried by the wind during the midnight hours. People have started to disappear, leaving behind only cryptic messages written in salt and seaweed. Some claim the whispers speak their name, while others hear pleas or warnings that vanish as soon as they turn to listen. There are rumors that the whispers are the voices of those who went missing at sea, souls forever trapped between worlds.

The sea, it seems, is not merely a backdrop but a living, breathing entity; one that is waking up. A group of unlikely allies must band together to unravel the mystery. That is, if the townsfolk don't stop them first. They don't like prying eyes.

Didn’t Sappho say her guts clutched up like this?

I was flummoxed by fractious Franny's decision to abrogate analgesics for the moribund victims of the recent conflagration. Of course, to display histrionics was discretionary, but I did so anyways, implicating a friend in my drama to make the effect cumulative. I think a misanthrope would have a prosaic appellation, perhaps one related to autonomy and the rejection of anthropocentrism. I think they wouldn't think much of the prominence of watching the coagulation of tea to prognosticate future malevolent events, not even if those events were related to jurisprudence.
