A Tale of Two Queens

She grinned as they neared the edge of the city where the forest got thicker "Alright, this is where we part unfortunately. I promis to be back before noon though."

Scylla nodded and patted both of them on the back. "I'll be waiting for you."

Bathildis smiled warmly and gently patted her shoulder "See you later."

Teiran chuckled and waved back to Scylla as he and Bathildis entered the forest

"See you soon!" Scylla watched them until they disappeared completely out of sight.

As they wandered deep into the forest, Tieran looked at Bathildis. "You really think you're going to find something green and fuzzy?"

Bathildis gave him a grin, one of sheer determination. "Of course I do. And if I can't i'll find something red or gold. Those colors will look beautiful on her."

Tieran shook his head a little. "You two certainly bonded over the years."

The forest beckoned them deeper, for the moment appearing to be a normal day of hunting. Nothing fuzzy and green deciding to make its presence known.

The two were quiet for most of the way as they continued to make their way deeper, following the forest's summons.
Bathildis kept alert, always keeping an eye out for anything that might be useful.
Tieran on the other hand took a slightly more leisurely approach, looking for larger game that would serve as dinner instead of just pelt hunting.

There was the sound of a twig snapping in the distance.

Bathildis instantly turned towards the sound and reached for her bow, Tieran doing the same.

Another twig snapping and the rustling o leaves followed, the sound fairly close to them now.

Both siblings nocked arrows to their bowstrings and laid in wait, Bathildis motioning for Tieran to take one side of the clearing while she took the other.
They worked well in a team despite the banter as even though Tieran was a middle child, he had had the experience as Eldest as well in the years Bathildis was in the mines and he had to care for his sisters. They had both changed over those years but now they were even closer and worked better because of it.
Their eyes focused sharply on the direction in which the sound had been heard, scanning for any signs of movement to relay to the other.

The antlers of what looked to be a sizeable deer slowly popped into view.

Tieran looked to bathildis who barely moved her head in a nod before drawing her arrow back and lining it up with the mark. Tieran did the same and waited, hardly breathing, for the deer to just turn slightly so he could get a clear shot.

The deer, naturally, took its sweet time moving about, content with itself until finally it turned just right.

Tieran let his arrow loose and Bathildis a moment after him.
