I have a forum for my poetry novel, but not my other novel. I thought it would be a great idea to make one where I can share things I write and my progress/goals. More coming soon, but feel free to comment and ask any questions. I would love feedback or ideas

Chapter One:
It is Astrid's 18th birthday, she wakes up and goes downstairs. She is greeted by her father who presents her with a wrapped gift. He does not know what it is. It is a hard day for both of them, since it is also the anniversary of Bronwyn, Astrid's mothers, passing. Astrid knows that her mother died from suicide when she was four, but does not know the details as to why. Her father, John, suffers from PTSD. Talking about it is too hard for him and he always shuts down.

Chapter Two:
John tells Astrid he knows it would be easier for her to open this gift on her own. Astrid goes to her bedroom. She unwraps the gift to find a journal inside. It is her mother's journal from 18 years ago.
Astrid opens the cover and begins to read the first entry. As she reads, the room around her begins to transform- she is travelling to the past. Everything goes black.

Chapter Three:
Astrid opens her eyes. She is now in a new place. There is a girl in front of her, with her back facing Astrid. This girl is sitting at a desk, writing in a journal. It is Bronwyn. Bronwyn turns around and sees Astrid. She assumes she is a new girl moving into the foster home that she lives in.

Chapter Four:
The two girls have a lot in common and bond really well. They quickly become friends. Bronwyn shows Astrid the rest of the foster home and introduces her to the other youth who live there. It is the summer and all the kids are out of school, so they have a lot of free time to go around the small town they live in. Astrid meets Mr. Clark, the man who runs the foster home. He makes her uncomfortable and grips her shoulder tightly.

Chapter Five:
Bronwyn and Astrid go to an ice cream shop, the next day, and Bronwyn begins to open up about her past and how her parents passed away. Astrid becomes aware of how serious the situation is with Mr. Clark. Bronwyn explains that he is very physically violent with the children, he makes inappropriate sexual comments and can be very touchy with the girls. Bronwyn explains that he always hurts her the worst, but doesn't explain further.

Chapter Six:
Bronwyn and Astrid's friendship begins to develop. Bronwyn begins to ask about Astrid's past. Astrid says her mother passed away. They bond over this. The abuse with Mr. Clark becomes more intense, he sexually assaults Astrid by entering the bathroom while she is in the shower. He makes inappropriate comments to her before touching her.

Chapter Seven:
Astrid tells Bronwyn. Unfortunately, similar things have happened to her before. Astrid learns that Mr. Clark has been hurting her awfully for years. Astrid tells Bronwyn that she should confront Mr Clark and report his abuse, but Bronwyn says no. She is worried that he will hurt her worse. The girls walk to a field and stargaze in the middle of the night. This is the emotional turning point of the story. Astrid fully opens up about some of the pains she has endured in her life. Bronwyn validates her pains, but doesn't know that she is the one who is her mother.

Chapter Eight:
After seeing Mr. Clark make an inappropriate comment to a younger girl in the home, Astrid is fed up with his abuse. She tells Bronwyn that if she does not confront him, she will. Bronwyn is scared that is Astrid says something, Mr. Clark will hurt her, so she finally agrees to confront him.

Chapter Nine:
This chapter is from Bronwyn's POV and details her confronting Mr. Clark. He reacts violently and rapes her and hurts her physically.

Chapter Ten:
Astrid asks Bronwyn what happened. She doesn't say anything. Astrid sees cuts and bruises on her body and keeps asking. Bronwyn, overwhelmed and hurt and scared, freaks out at Astrid. She screams and in the heat of the moment, tells Astrid that it is her fault because she is the one who pushed her to confront Mr. Clark. She tells her she never wants to see her again. After she says this, Astrid's surroundings begin to fade. Everything goes black.
