(I know it's been a thousand years but I suddenly remembered this thread exists and I have more art lol. Anyway, this one was painted just the other day, but I sketched it during lunch back in December on vacation with my family. This was my view at lunch that day. I have another related painting I'll have to dig up soon.)

The brain rot continues lol, I drew not one but TWO portraits of Caesar from 2010s Planet of the Apes because the first one was, like, fine but not great, and I was like, I can do better and also: what if charcoal?

@EllieMae thank you!! I literally haven't stopped giggling and kicking my feet over this one since I finished it, it's like literally the best portrait I've ever done and it's a fictional ape

RIGHT I forgot this thread existed but then I was gonna share some art and remembered XD

Anyway, I used the long weekend to f i n a l l y finish my fan art from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024). Poor Noa's been sitting on the table as a pencil and Friskit outline since, like. idk. August?? because this was my second attempt. The initial pencil sketch was good, but the first full attempt was all disproportionate, and then I mucked up the background, so I redid it.

Probably my favorite part of this one is the light. Last time, I took all the Friskit off after I'd done the background, before doing the charcoal. This time, I left the Friskit on the right side until the charcoal was done, so Noa looks a lot more like light is shining on him from that side in this version.

I also used this weekend to do my Christmas cards. Just a handful of friends get the handmade Christmas cards because they're a lot of effort. First I create a design, then I trace the design, then I transfer the design to the cards, then I paint the design.

Originally I was planning to do a snowy steam engine this year, but my lord the details took me out. I got super bored halfway through tracing and went lol yeah no there's no way I'll finish my cards if I keep going with this.

So I did this instead

Watercolor, watercolor marker, and watercolor pencil

thank you!! like I said, only a few friends get them because I have limited energy for more than a handful, but I like doing them <3

Did a bunch of doodles for Reasons. I got a brush pen in a gift bag a while back, so this was my first time trying it out. Pleased with the results!
