Rana didn’t respond to that, either, ripping the door open. She felt tears in the back of her throat and she wanted to run and hide before they made it to her eyes.

He let her go, lip curling as he turned to ready himself for bed.

Rana shut the door behind her quickly and rushed for her room, tearing up.
(I’m good for a time skip unless you’ve got plans for her to run into someone in the hall or want development as an aside for your characters. She’s going to cry and sleep then pull herself together lol)

Rana took a while to settle in and calm down, but once she did she passed out fairly quickly. She was exhausted to the bone and grateful for an actual bed for once.
When she woke up she got herself put together then decided to go in search of some water. The fires were making her mouth feel parched.

Ewan's parents had all retired to their beds, exhausted and, he suspected, a bit miffed that they'd been awoken so early in the morning. He envied them that ability to fall right back asleep--once Ewan was up, he was up for the day.
The sun was reaching its zenith as he ambled into the little well room beneath the kitchen to draw some water for himself. There was a spring beneath the Keep that his ancestors had dug out many centuries ago, and to this day he'd not tasted any water more refreshing than this. Ewan guided the little bucket down into the stone pipe, humming a tune to himself as he did so.

Rana meandered for a while until she managed to find the kitchen, but hesitated at the entrance, suddenly too bashful to go in. Was she being rude? Should she wait until she was offered a beverage instead? She didn’t know.

He raised the bucket eventually, taking a ladle from where it hung on the wall and dipping it in. Cool, clear water pooled within, and he raised it to his lips to drink.

Rana took a deep breath and stuck her head around the corner to see if she could find a servant or something to beg for some water.
