He chuckled, glancing back at the others. "That was a little steep for Sadie's liking."
"I like easier paths," she confirmed. "Don't have a specific one, really. I like the local parks. The, like, two, three mile loops."

She closed her eyes and bowed her head out of respect for him. Meyer glanced between them and then looked down at the table, not closing his eyes but still taking a respectful posture. Neither of them believed in all this stuff, but it seemed polite.

Nicholas raised his head, and Martin set about passing the bowl down. "It's a bummer," Mary went on. "I'd like to be able to do more things but it's exercise induced for me--can't bike too hard, can't go for walks in the heat, can't do any of that stuff."
