Sadie nodded slowly. This was dangerous territory, her bringing her own mom into this. “If she has concerns, I’d be happy to talk with her about it. Again, there won’t be any physical affections exchanged, regardless of the casting. Maybe a hug. But that’d be it. Definitely no kiss. So it’d be innocent.”

Sadie smiled too and nodded. “Good. That’s easy enough, then.”
Not that anything about this was going to be easy. But fuck it. If she got fired, then maybe that’d be the catalyst to convince Meyer to move again. Really, the stakes weren’t all that high. Especially considering how important it was to mentor her teens. She needed to be a good role model; demonstrate risking everything for what you believed in. Hopefully it’d be a happy ending that gave Bean the conclusion Sadie wanted her to get.

(I keep trying to figure out where to stick people to get them to interact. Marie will be at the butcher shop. Nicholas will be in the church; he's sobered up by now. Would any of your characters be in one of those two places at some point during the day?)

Meyer was getting home tonight, and Sadie was excited. He’d only been gone three days but it felt like a month. She decided to swing past the butcher shop on her way home from school to pick up some steaks to welcome Meyer home to. Hopefully he didn’t get food on his drive.
Not that it would stop him from eating again if she has a steak dinner waiting for him.
She gently opened the door and strode in, glancing around. It was almost pitiful at this point how skittish she was, nervous about running into hostile parents. But, thankfully, none of the usual culprits were in here right now.
