“Yup.” She grabbed them, then pulled out her keys. “I’m actually right ahead of you.” She pointed two spots up the street at a small but fiery red Ford escort with rust spots and peeling paint. She walked forward and unlocked the backseat on the drivers side and put his groceries in, then stepped back and gestured for him to do the same, offering an apologetic, “the trunks a bit sticky.”

Sadie unlocked the driver door and got in then leaned across to unlock the passenger side door, tossing old fast food wrappers in the back along with the dress shoes she had to wear at work and other odds and ends she had riding shotgun with her so there’d be space when he walked around.
