The library still made her feel bad. And had the highest probability of having to deal with Septimus.
But hiding in her room would make Tomhas want to send her away. The threat was getting ever closer and her abandonment issues were soaring through the roof. It was only a matter of time before she was sent away again. Unless she could re-prove herself as a daughter. Make herself desirable as a child again.
So instead she’d settled down in one of the busiest areas of the Keep to be sure she had a high probability of being seen and but hopefully not interacted with as she pretended to read a book.

Ky glanced out the window. So soon? But wasn’t he supposed to be with Zander? Had something happened? Bay wouldn’t know the answer to those questions just from a rock. She glanced back at him, forcing herself to swallow the questions and instead dipped her head. “Thank you for letting me know; I appreciate it.”
