Jerica’s spine crawled. Her back was quite literally against the wall. She was in the corner. There was no one around her. What. The. Fuck? “I knew the bread was moldy.” Maybe she should lay down. She was clearly feverish.

"The bread was fine," Them replied. "This is no hallucination, child. How shall I prove that to you?"

“Show yourself,” Jerica answered. That was the simplest solution. Clearly.

"There are people in here," the voice scoffed.

“Who all probably think that I’m talking to myself.” Because she was.

"Then go elsewhere, if you wish to appear sane."

“I can’t,” she muttered grouchily. “They won’t let me go anywhere without a babysitter.”

"Then tell them you must use the chamber pot."

“… and you’ll show yourself if I do?” It wasn’t a bad idea.

"I will," Them assured her.

“Mm.” Jerica hesitated for a moment, then pushed herself to her feet and stole towards the door.

"Where're you going?" the young soldier asked her.

“I need to piss.”

"You know where the bathroom is?"
