“I’ll let him know you want them,” she said noncommitally, nodding to him and sliding four coins across the bar like before as she took her beer. She wasn’t in the mood to get in the middle of this. Better things to do with her life.

Helge leaned forward as she returned. "No luck?"

“No.” She shook her head and sat back down. “He said to tell you he wants those three back, too.” She nodded at them then shrugged. “If you give a fuck. I don’t.”

He shrugged and rose, returned the bottles to the bar before returning to the table. "Too bad. He always was a sourpuss."

“Yeah.” Jerica shrugged and took a drink of her beer. “It was nice when it lasted… can you juggle anything else?”

Jerica hesitated, patting her pockets as if she had anything to give him. All she’d brought was money and a couple— “…knives?”

“Uhh…” she couldn’t remember. Definitely the one in her belt — she pulled it out and set it on the table. Then reached down and got the one she had strapped to her left ankle… then the one on her right. Then pulled the one strapped to her left forearm. She glanced back at him. “Four?” Probably best not to reveal she had a fifth shoved down in the pocket of her coat. No need to tip her entire hand.

"I'll be damned," the woman murmured. Helge's thick eyebrows rose a bit further with every knife Jerica set on the table.
"Well." He cleared his throat, picking one up delicately. "Aye. I think I can, er, work with this?"

Jerica smirked at the reaction. “I said I could take care of myself.” She slid the blades across the table. “Don’t hurt yourself, though. Only do it if you’re sure you know how. I ain’t paying no medical bills.”

"Pah." He flipped one of the knives in his hand. "Missy, I've handled knives since before you were born."

"Ah, but juggling's my second job. Or could be." He picked up the rest of the knives and started juggling them.

Jerica tried to look too-cool-to-be-impressed but a few seconds later was grinning over her beer as she watched. Could she do that? She probably could. It couldn’t be that hard…
