Bay spotted the young man who'd stood and approached him. "Lord Ash would like to speak with you," he said with a nod.

He'd like to 'speak' with the bastard, too. Kaelan turned a sharp glare on him.
"You--" Rifkin stood up off his own bunk, poking Kaelan's chest to draw his attention. "Best spend that walk screwing your head on right."
Kaelan glared at him, but it lacked quite the venom it had before.
"You'll do her no favors by pissing him off," he pointed out.
Kaelan hesitated, then dipped his head with a sigh and took a step towards Bay. Rifkin was right. As usual. "...Sir."

Bay turned and headed for the door, glancing at Kaelan.

Kaelan kept his gaze straight ahead, expression drawn and harsh but back rod straight and chin raised. He focused on taking deep breaths, trying to calm himself.

Bay exited the barracks with him. "Keep your wits about you, lad," he said quietly once they were out of earshot of the others. "The girls aren't coming to any harm."

Kaelan looked at him in surprise, blinking. But Ash was--? Then what was--? Isn't that--?
