“Thank you, sir.” Ky smiled and bobbed her head. She wasn’t going to undermine his authority by asking his brother. He was right here and could speak up if he was opposed.

Ky took a hesitant step after him, glancing at Gaius to give him the easy opportunity to shut it down if he wanted to.

Ky shrank a little and turned towards the door, intimidated.

Tadaaki was still glued to the wall looking between them all helplessly. He couldn’t dance and he wasn’t great at riding, either. And he didn’t want to spend even longer around the nobles. But he doubly didn’t want to end up alone with Lord Ash. And he also didn’t want to not have Ky. But he wasn’t sure if he had been invited. So he just stood very still and waited. Perhaps they’d all forget him. That would be nice.

She walked alongside Ky, looking ahead but not saying anything.

(Haha yeah I randomly remembered him but he’s also not been participating in any of it because he’s anxious and awkward so I could see the others forgetting him as well)
Ky glanced around and realized Tadaaki wasn’t with them. Had he been invited, too? She didn’t know. She also didn’t know if he’d want to come even if he was welcome. He didn’t like riding. And he didn’t like the cold. And he didn’t like nobles. Three strikes against pointing out he wasn’t with them. Hopefully he’d be okay on his own.
Tadaaki was very good at making himself invisible, despite his huge build. So he stood very still with his hands clasped and his eyes on the floor, waiting for instructions. His heart was racing with the realization he was on his own to navigate this.

Gaius hadn't forgotten Tadaaki, and as the musicians packed up their instruments he watched him, trying to gauge how the young man felt about all this, and about being left behind.

Tadaaki didn’t move at all and yet still somehow managed to emit an anxious aura. Perhaps Ash would leave soon, too. It was much easier to be forgotten than remembered by someone important.

Gaius shifted his weight, tilting his head for a moment before approaching Tadaaki.
