"I was an only child," Liesel said. "My father, Lord Perseus Ash, was married to a man. But of course the requirement is that a Lord or Lady in a same-sex marriage needs to produce an heir by blood. I was that heir--my elder brother died when he was eight years old. Women weren't the ideal outcome back in those days, so my father was told he needed to get me married to someone as quick as possible. Abel was the son of a count, and we were close in age. So I got married at fourteen and we had our first child when I was fifteen."
"It wasn't a very happy marriage the first few years." Abel smiled awkwardly. "We were a pair of teenagers, willful and definitely not interested in marriage just yet."
"Abel was very polite anyhow. Very gentle and concerned with my wellbeing, my wishes. I was none of those things to him. After Felicity was born we came together a little more."
