She dipped her head. "I look forward to seeing Gaius and Tomhas's little ones grow into themselves; I think they've got some good kids as well."
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that." -Karis Nemik

"Yes ma'am," Ky agreed, dipping her head. "The young Ashes are quite endearing. I'm sure the Loquitur children are, too."

And she was, ever so slowly, starting to breathe around them. She was still wary, of course. She'd never lose that. Nothing but the utmost respect for noble children. But she was getting progressively more confident that Ash wasn't going to smite her for interacting with his children. And. Well. Children had a way of winning her over very, very easily. They were just so cute. Innocent. Adorable.

"Absolutely! There are a lot of them, too--Lyra, Anneliese, Oscar, and Peter. They're brilliant children, and Lyra is close to you as far as age goes."

Ky nodded. "Are they quite like their father?"

"Lyra not so much, but the others are the spitting image of his personality. And his wife is a lovely woman--Anneke. She's absolutely charming!"

"I'm sure." Ky smiled and bobbed her head again. "I'm sure his entire family is delightful."

She nodded. "I believe Anneke is pregnant with another child; she couldn't make the trip and the children don't need to come to war meetings."

"Yes ma'am," Ky agreed with a nod. "My father never actually said so, but I think he wanted more kids. He always said it's easiest to see the best parts about yourself in your kids... I wouldn't know. But. Well. That's what he thought." And he was never wrong. But still. It felt arrogant to tell Lady Constance how to feel when she had kids and Ky did not.

"I think that's true." She nodded slowly. "I think that's very true. Arianna and I are happy with just the one, but it feels good to think we've done well. And we most certainly see good and bad aspects of ourselves and his father in him."

Ky nodded. "He said that as well. That I reminded him of Ma-my mother, too... I never met her. But. He always said I was like her."
