(Oof. But also yes haha mine was also a true story, ish. We didn’t eat it. But we had a mean rooster that came after me a few times but I could fight it off or run far enough away it gave up the chase. Was super stressful to my like 8 or 9 year old little self. But one day idk if it was me or him or a mix of us both but the egos didn’t align well and he ended up CHASING me. Like usually he’d give up the chase after maybe 20 or 30 yards and go back to his coop. This time he chased me across the road and half way up my drive way so probably 60 or 70 yards and I’ve got asthma and my drive way is kinda steep so it slowed me down enough he got on my back and scratched it up and pecked my shoulders and absolutely drew blood before I could get him fought off and get inside. My dad killed it that night when he got home from work)
Ky nodded understandingly. “Can’t stand them. And they’re not even useful. They just make noise and harass me and the hens and don’t even make eggs to make up for it.”

(haha they will not... but honestly, even though I'm currently, as we speak, am sitting here with ice on my knee and a brace on my wrist, I do not regret being a field biologist lol it's what gets me off and I really love my career choice. But it will be veering me firmly towards management and conservation and away from academia, and save me from having to go back to my PhD, which is a huge step up lol I've had two different people, independently, tell me this week that I seem a lot happier and am doing a lot better lately (and I agree with them, I just didn't realize it was noticeable) and then there are factors with my advisor potentially leaving my school and stuff and I just really would like to get a real job and abandon my doctorate and this seems like it may be my ticket out)
