"I think so." She nodded. "I remember a goat....and a raven. And a fat dog with no legs or ears. There were others, too. An owl, a wolf, a fish..."
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that." -Karis Nemik
Pratik nodded. He had no idea what to make of this whatsoever. But, well, he supposed they could figure it out together. "Should we go get paper so you can draw them before you forget?"

"Yes." She stood. "God, it's cold. To the library?"

"Let's go." Pratik nodded and stepped towards the door, holding it open for her.

She stepped through. "I've never felt this before, or heard of it happening in the North. I think a Seer down in Natai had his ears and eyes bleed once."

Pratik processed what she'd said -- that she was cold -- a moment late. He stepped further into the room to grab his cloak. She'd be more comfortable if she was warm. And, probably, if she had another layer on for modesty. Gods knew she deserved privacy of her body, if she wanted it.
He cringed sympathetically as he held it out to her. "Do you know why?"

Ada took the cloak with a nod and wrapped it tightly around herself. "The sun spoke to her. She nearly died and she wasn't the same after that, apparently. It's dangerous to speak to a god. But the gods in the North are asleep. Have been for ages and ages."

"... do you think it was something supernatural that lives up here?" Pratik asked, shutting the door and starting towards the stairs.

"There's nothing I can think of. I don't know any folk tales from up here but Seers only hear gods' dreams or messages, as far as I know. Nothing else is powerful enough to do that."

"But there's something powerful enough to make your ears bleed," he pointed out. "... could you hear one of the other gods, even from this far away?"

"They keep to their regions, as far as I know. Unless it's really important or a Seer is their chosen. So no, I wouldn't be hearing anyone else."

"Hm." He scratched his chin thoughtfully, starting down the stairs. "Well it had to come from somewhere. I wonder if there is any folklore up here of--" His mind came to a screeching halt as he remembered Rönn. Some strange shit must be happening. Where was Ky? Was she out there befriending some other cryptid? Waking yet another creature from legends? "...I think it'd be good to study... more."

"You're going to have to do the studying. I can't read Upper Tongue." She followed after him.
Gaius, not far ahead of them, heard the voices and glanced at Ky.

Ky looked back at him with wide eyes, then the situation struck her and she murmured. “He might be more willing than Emery.”
“Yeah no worries,” Pratik said. “You just focus on drawing and remembering. I’ll read.”

Gaius's brow furrowed, and he nodded. She made a good point.
Ada nodded. "Fine. I'm going to tell Ash too, if he's awake. Do you suppose he'll be in the library or will he be sleeping?"
