She quickly switched it out for one of Michael’s others and returned to her seat and started reading.

Chased down the rotten one today--he's quick for a seven year old. Tried to hide behind Mother but she didn't let him. He'll learn eventually. I wasn't feeling creative today so I just took Father's belt and made sure he remembered he wasn't anyone's family. Spent most of the rest of the day following Father around because he said I'm to learn how to be a Lord instead of tormenting cats all day. I learned where he keeps the good mead and found out one of his desk drawers has a false bottom. Guess what I found! Below there was a little multiple choice list. A. Wooden phallus B. Molested molasses C. Secret documents D. All of the above

Ky’s jaw clenched before she even finished the first sentence. Maybe Zander was on to something. Maybe someone should resurrect Aleth so they could vengeance and maybe someone should resurrect Michael so that she could beat him up and then turn Gaius loose on him. Aleth and Michael both deserved his wrath.
She got angrier and angrier with every word she read. At Michael. At their trash mother… and she definitely didn’t want to guess. But she turned the page. She swore to god, if Michael did anything to anyone with that phallus—
(Yeah this is a trip haha)

It was D, reader. Turns out my father's a dirty bastard. Fucked his own cousin and he still isn't satisfied! I left them alone but I know where they are now. Maybe I can use this against him one day. Oops, better not write that when I know Father's reading these. Of course what's the worst that could happen? He beats me and moves them elsewhere, probably.

Anyway, tomorrow I have a game planned for both my siblings and maybe the little bastard too. We'll have a great time. Tell you what it is tomorrow!
Love Michael

Ky sighed and flipped the page, bracing herself for what the bastard did to his poor siblings.

The next page was similar to the one in the previous journal, scribbled almost black and badly torn.

She squinted at it and flipped past it. Had this been censored somehow? Perhaps Septimus didn’t like whatever Michael had done. Or perhaps the bastard had gone berserk and destroyed his own entry.

I had a bad day yesterday. 6th Day of Summer, by the way. Anyway it went well. Father hated it but of course he did. They're all in the infirmary now but it was lots of fun while it lasted. Gaius went down first; his arms are just sticks so he couldn't hold them up that long. Cleaver and stone came right down on him, the idiot. Cecily lasted longer. Father came out right after the rotten one went down. I'm still sore but I'm not allowed in the infirmary so the apprentice Sera is supposed to bring me whatever I want. Much as it hurts I'm glad I get to see her every day. She's gorgeous.

She was so angry. And it hurt so, so bad even though she didn’t know what had happened. Was this when Michael maimed Gaius? What had he done to Cecily? To Tomhas?
She realized she was trembling and took a moment to still herself before she kept reading. She had to be detached and impassive in case her luck turned and someone happened to walk by. Perhaps she should get a scary story off the shelf instead of the berries one. Give her better deniability.
Or perhaps she should just stop.
This was a bad idea.
She’d had enough.
And yet… she flipped the page.

7th Day of Summer, 357 Had a couple nightmares. Sera dressed my wounds again today and I told her to sit with me awhile. She did, but I think it was mostly because she didn't want Father to be angry. I asked her how my siblings were doing and she said Gaius was asleep and wouldn't wake up for awhile. Apparently the cut across his chest is infected. Good. Maybe his wits will leave him and then we'll really have some fun. Mother came to see me too. It was strange. She doesn't usually go to anyone besides Cecily. She told me Cecily got stitches all up and down her arm and her collarbone is broken, and that Gaius still sick, which I already knew. She didn't mention the rotten one but Sera already told me he's the least hurt. I'd hoped that blow would kill him. I asked Mother why she came and she said she's trying to understand me. I told her that was foolish; she should have been a better mother and not fucked her cousin, simple as that. It's their fault I'm this way. At least I embrace this. Mother and Father are afraid of me for it, I think. Gaius is their perfect cerebral little scholar so I guess they can afford to hate the rest of their children.

Come to think of it, it's funny we call the little bastard rotten when he's the only one without a double dose of Ash running through him. Lucky little fucker. If curses do exist, this impurity Gaius, Cece and I have in common would have to be it. I play these games and they're all good fun, but they're apt punishments for all of us, I think. I just wish I could punish Mother and Father, too. Maybe one day the gods will wake up and do just that. Michael

And was he really this stupid? To be saying all these things with full knowledge his father would read them. It wasn’t as if this were a secret journal that may be discovered. No. He admitted he knew Septimus was reading them. And then he went and did shit like this. Like all of this.
She let out a little sigh and turned the page, feeling increasingly unwell. She was going to need a break soon.
