I wasn't going to say this
> it's a public forum <
the gloves came off and, well,
our hands are tied

I mean I was going to say
> it hardly seems necessary <
at this point we are really just
beating the cliche until it runs

So I wanted to say
> you can't have everything you want <
but i suppose some things can't be helped,
even when you're trying your absolute

What I said was
> that's what i thought <
yes, okay.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

Sometimes I wonder
what it would be like
to go anywhere
and be anything

how small hands fill
and fill
with meaning and motion
weighs us so

and then you're old
and you're old
and you're old

and, not even then,
are you done.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

I am walking
the tide is long
and my steps are slow.

in the summer months
the heat slicks to my jaw,
a stifling sweat the never ends

and this year the rains didn't stop
that awful dewy glow
of humidity's grip

even as the flood waters rose
and homes were abandoned
the heat drew steadily on.

as autumn chimes in the chill
rises like a swell,
thick round undertow
rippling below

as I walk onward
time and sand crunching
each step terribly
slow.

(I wrote this last night but couldn't sign in to YWS :( )
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

I think my phone hates me
or maybe it just knows
that late at night my poetry
is only reflecting my woes.

-- I can't log on to yws on my phone so this is from yesterday but posted late again :(

We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself.
