Two Crows Watch from the Gallows Tree (part 8)

(They're not terrible. Just a bit....odd.)

"Oh absolutely. A lot of food is imported from all over; the Northern nobles don't just eat fish and elk all day with no flavoring. Where do you think honey comes from up here?"

Ky nodded. “Makes sense…” she glanced at Sara, preemptively blushing. But the request wasn’t for her. Which made it better. It did. This was better. She wasn’t asking for a favor for herself. “… I think Ada missed coffee.”

"Gaius doesn't like to have it in the house," Sara replied. "But I'm sure he'd have some brought up here for her. It's easy enough to acquire."

“Oh?” Ky asked curiously.

"It's not healthy. Makes your heart race." She tapped her chest. "He read it in a book somewhere."

“Oh.” Ky hadn’t realized Gaius was a health stickler. Seemed odd of him to care about coffee when he barely ate at all in the first place. But, then, he wasn’t wrong. She smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, me on coffee is bad.”

"Anyone on coffee is bad, until they've built up a tolerance."

Ky nodded. “I’m particularly bad, though.”

“But funny,” Zander commented with a smirk. “Watching you go is prime entertainment.”

Ky smiled sheepishly.

(Imagine Ada egging Ky on to drink a lot of coffee and her just irritate the ever loving fuck out of Gaius xD)

"We'll have to see it sometime." Emery grinned. "I've only had coffee a couple times; it's fine. A bit bitter; I like milk and sugar in mine."

Ky laughed nervously, imagining being coffee-d up in front of Gaius. That would be disastrous. He’d toss her out of the Keep a few hours until she came off it. Or lock her in her room. Or lock himself in his room. Or, worse yet, he may try to talk to her. She had no filter whatsoever when she was on a coffee rush. None. She couldn’t talk to Gaius without a filter; she’d die. “That would be so bad.”

"It would be fine, I'm sure. I don't think there's a single noble in the North who hasn't tried coffee and known the high."
"It makes me and Gaius anxious and bouncy," Sara volunteered. "And I shake all over. It's awful!"

Zander smirked wickedly, also envisioning this, and absolutely delighted by the idea. “I would pay money to watch Gaius and Ky on a coffee rush at the same time.”

"You'd want half your money back by the end," Sera assured him. "He clams up tight and just vibrates for a couple hours, then sleeps for the rest of the day." She chuckled. "It's funny for a couple minutes and then it gets boring."

Zander laughed lightly. “Fair enough… has Tomhas ever had coffee?”

"Ohhhhhh." Sara put her face in her hands. "Don't remind me."
"He's...." Sera allowed herself a wry smile. "You know what, we'll get you some coffee to take home to him, dear. You find out for yourself."
