“Thank you.” Ky hesitated. “… I think the kids have their hearts set on sweet rolls. I don’t need anything, though.”

"I have that on my list." Sera nodded. "What will you be up to today?"

“Probably just hanging around Zander… and Emery.” She was careful to keep the frustration off her face and out of her tone. “He’s not staying very long… and I’ll let Gaius know I’m cleared, so maybe meeting my new trainer. I don’t know.”

"Any other research or exploration to do in the library?"

“Maybe!” Ky smiled. “I really am so enamored with the library. It’s incredible.”

"Gaius figured you would be." Sera grinned. "I'm so glad you're enjoying it! There's lots to be found in there."

"Oh..." Sera thought for a moment. "Hmm, there are so many good ones. What are you interested in?"

“Most things.” Ky shrugged, thinking. “Except math… and physics… and chemistry… biology’s okay, though!”

"I can recommend some excellent medicine and anatomy books," Sera replied. "One is Anatomical Reasoning by Erstan Wiles, and another is Uses of Lichens and Shrubbery in the Northern Realm by Peter Ellison. Both very interesting, despite their names."

Ky laughed a little. “‘Shrubbery’ is an excellent word… shrubberies.”

"It is, isn't it? I think it just means bushes and low plant life, but it's fun to say."

(I'm so glad you caught it)

Sera dipped her head. "When are you thinking of starting Nortung lessons with Rickard?" Rickard glanced up, then looked back down at his book quickly.

Ky glanced at Rickard. Shit. This was her choice, too, wasn’t it? She supposed she’d bite the bullet on this one. It’d be kinder than making him make the decision. She’d been free longer. And was a noble now she guessed. She still didn’t like having to make a decision that affected a real noble, much less if she was still freshly freed.

“Um… I should probably look at the books in the library first. I can be a bit dense.” She have a small self depreciating smile. “I’ll get a head start so I don’t waste his time, either.”
