Two Crows Watch from the Gallows Tree (part 6)

Gaius looked back at her, then to Sera and Rickard. "Sera, do you have anything you'd like to go over with Ky?"
"Just come by if you need anything," Sera told Ky. "Gaius told me you were injured; I can provide more poultices and dressings if need be. Everything's right here."

“Thank you.” Ky murmured, not particularly surprised she already knew. “It feels mostly better now. I think I’ll just need the stitches out soon.”

"That can be done." Sera dipped her head. "Enjoy your tour; has he shown you the library yet?"

“Not yet. I think we’re ending there.”

"Oh, excellent! Saving the best for last." Sera grinned. "You're going to go mad over it, I'm sure."

“I think that’s why we’re saving it for last,” she said with a sheepish smile.

"What else have you seen?"

“The trophy room, and everything on the first two floors. Dining hall, study, map room… and my room upstairs.” She looked at Sera, wondering if she knew how absolutely excessive it was. “I’m fairly certain there are entire islands smaller than that mattress.”

Sera chuckled. "There are a couple rooms like that here. Do you like it?"

Ky nodded vigorously. “It’s very generous.” She hesitated, not sure whether to admit her discomfort with it. “I’m not sure what to do with myself.”

Rickard gave a fervent nod from where he sat but kept quiet.
"I think a lot of visitors feel the same way," Sera agreed. "Bedrooms of that size are great for sleepovers, though, and you can have as many books piled up on the floor as you please."

It hadn’t struck Ky she could have a sleepover. She wasn’t actually really sure what entailed — she’d never had one before. But it sounded exciting. Although she didn’t have any idea who would visit her. “There are even extra shelves for more books!”

"Any books that you want to borrow for a long time can go there," Sera suggested.
"Speaking of sleepovers, I ought to introduce you to some of the children your age," Gaius mused. "I'd nearly forgotten."

Ky grinned at that, still not quite sure how sleepovers were supposed to work, but, “I’d love to meet them.”

"Excellent. We'll do that when you feel up to it." Gaius dipped his head to Sera and Rickard. "We ought to be going. Thank you both."
