The old testament is more or less the same as the Thora Rolls. I would suggest a lot of books based on the religion of free-thinking and the questioning of god(s), like Nietzsche or other philosophers or even Darwin´s Theory of Evolution.
When it comes to religion, I find it really exciting to explore, discuss and learn from it, because religion is necessary for human beings to exist. It is the hope and the belief that there is someone or something that stands over you and watches over you. It is a natural psychological drive that has arisen with consciousness.
I think religion is something like the first answers to natural phenomena and questions about answers that we discovered centuries or millennia later. From religion germinates the hope that there is life after death, a meaning in life and the belief in good. It is something wonderful because it is thus different from human beings. The belief in someone who looks after you is helpful, there is even a study by an Australian psychologist who did tests with children.
Technically, the Thora scrolls are the old testament... Hm... Does Darwin question God in the Theory of Evolution, I did not know that. Nietzche, I don't if I'd read his books, his ideas aren't all too wrong but the way he presents them is rather radical. I agree with you, Namedy, it's really fascinating to hear about beliefs and religions. I think my main problem with Christianity is that everything is a miracle when there are many viable reasons, also the church is a half-lie because there are so many books that aren't canon and they really paint some different pictures. I find it wrong to conclude something so possible as a miracle.

The thing about the bible is it's like a giant game of Chinese Whispers. It's been translated and retranslated so. many. times. that the original meaning was probably lost, you know? Not completely, but enough to just be confusing to me, at least. XD

Technically, that is mostly how people describe it. I think there are small differences because of belief differences but definitely the same thing. The rabbi at my school said something similar.
That makes so much sense. For example, did you know they reviewed translations and found out that the Red Sea is a mistranslation for the Sea of Reeds?

I read somewhere that for the people around today Israel / Syria the Black Sea is North, Red Sea is South, the Green Sea (Mediterranean Sea) is West, and the Caspian Sea is I don´t know for East.
