As far as I know a sum like that should be:

X + Y + Z = 3

Y + 2Z = 2

3X - Y = 6

And then you compare those. You can’t have more than one value in an equation. It has to be more separate like this…

I don´t know anything about this and I have also to say, that I don´t know where I use that in my life right now.

It's got more to do with comparing things than anything else.

How would you create an equation by comparing apples and strawberries?

You could be trying to work out how much something costs. Say if 5 oranges and 6 strawberries are equal to R100.

Hm...

5X+6Y=100

5X+6Y-6Y=100-6Y

5X=100-6Y

5x/5 = 100/5 - 6Y/5

1x=20-6y/5?

I should use a calculator.

Usually you‘d get a value for Y. Say R12.

Like I said, no idea how this works. And I don´t need that in my life. You do that for me.

Substitute Y for R12:

5X+6Y = R100
5X+6(R12) = R100
5X+R72 = R100
5X = R100 - R72
5X = R28
X = R5,6
