that is seriously annoying. here, the prices on the price tags are the actual price, no math needed. much easier. idk why you guys don't do the same thing. so weird of you. xD

haha I think it's an artifact of businesses wanting to blame the government rather than lower their prices, so they put the burden on you rather than just include it in the cost. "Well we only charge $1! We can't help that the government makes it $1.09..." when in reality it's the same difference, they just don't want to admit that their prices are too high to begin with.

Basically haha I now have a job where I don't make a lot by any means but I'm also not running my bank account down to $4 between paydays anymore so it doesn't matter excessively much to me how much the added tax brings my total to. But it is in fact a major inconvenience when you're counting pennies lol

exactly. super inconvient for sure. so glad the added tax here is just...included in prices. makes it so much easier. xD

hahah basically! See, the thing is, when it gets rang up the tax gets auto-added to your total so, I think this is the reason why the taxes don't bother me is because I don't look at how obscene they are xD it's just an added line at the bottom of your receipt. But when I was in Thailand I was getting so frustrated because Google wouldn't tell me how much sales tax was and I was afraid I wouldn't have enough xD

Yep lol Although the economy itself was fascinating. When I was there (no idea if it's the same now) the exchange rate was 33 baht = $1 USD, and a coke was 17 baht, and I was like "... you mean to tell me a bottle of coke is only $0.50 including tax? What's the catch???" (it's close to $2 here)

it's like $3 here (for a 600ml, yet a 2L will be like $2. Yeah, i don't get it either)

jk but yeah the 2L are also $2 -- I think you're mostly paying for convenience. Like, if you're wanting a pop for the road, you don't want a warm 2L bottle -- so you're willing to pay more to get a 20 oz one that's already chilled and easy to consume

haha yepppp -- and the stupid part of America (dunno if it's like this elsewhere) but the cost of living is much, much, much higher in big cities than it is rural areas.

oop I think I may have just put myself on a government watch list xD I google price of coke by state to see if this was one of the things I could give as an example, and Google definitely brought me results from cocaine not coca cola lolol

And ig pop isn't one of those things that is dramatically higher based on Google -- aside from sales tax being outrageous -- but the cost of items is irregular. Like, some places have a food sales tax that is lower than other sales taxes. I'm pretty sure some places have a local tax that is added on top of the state sales tax. It's just outrageous.

I don´t know a lot of things about Australia. Isn´t there anything that is really expensive?
