The Perfection Trials

Michael shrugged. "We'll see. Well, I'm going to head off. See you two around!" He saluted them both and walked to the healthy food line.

Alex sighed. "Well, he was less weird than Emily."

“…yeah,” Sadie agreed grudgingly, turning towards the waffle line. She’d be danged if she got shamed into their culty foods. “Guess he’s still got a month left to go completely insane.”

Alex followed her, staring at Michael's back. "It's so weird. Because he's just A Dude, it's hard to imagine him becoming like Emily in a month."

“Yeah… I guess you must go crazy fast once you drink the Kool-Aid.” She threw a waffle on her plate and squirted a mountain of whipped cream on top.

Alex hummed in agreement, grabbing their own waffle and sprinkling a light dose of powdered sugar on top.

Sadie piled some bacon onto the plate next to the waffle and dumped a generous helping of strawberries onto the whipped cream. “Best eat up before they take it away I guess.”

Alex sighed. "Yep. Cheers." They grabbed a couple of sausage patties.

Sadie dumped some chocolate syrup on top then shuffled over to a table and sat down.

Alex followed after her and sat down. "I noticed that you got excited when Michael mentioned the computer lab."

"I mean... yeah." Sadie shrugged, cutting into her waffle. "Computers are sort of my thing."



Meyer had his hand on his chin, watching the screen in front of him. He'd been observing the tour from a remote location. Obviously. "She's definitely planning to attempt to hack us," he commented aloud, not quite sure if anyone was actually listening or not.

"Yeah." Alex nodded. "It'd be cool to do-" Xe gestured vaguely with their fork. "-computer things."

Sadie glanced at them thoughtfully as she chewed her mouthful of waffle. A moment later she swallowed and nodded. "I could show you sometime, if you like. Once we're done here. It's not too hard to learn."

Alex paused. "I would like that, actually." They smiled nervously.

Sadie grinned and nodded. "It's a plan, then!"

Alex laughed, taking another bite of their waffle. "Yep!"
