Just the obnoxious way to spell chaos lol

Chaos Frau

"u and rina are systematically watering down the grammar of yws" - Atticus
"From the fish mother to the fish death god." - lehmanf
"A fish stole my identity. I blame shady" - Omni

I’m guessing thank you is either Dank or Danke?

Correct. It´s danke. (Dank is the noun)

Entschuldigung = Excuse me
Sorry = people used it the same as in English but could be translated to Entschuldigung / Verzeihung
Gesundheit = meaning health, but means also Bless you
Hallo = Hello
Auf Wiedersehen / Tschüss = (Good)-bye

My Mom is Afrikaans so I speak the language not fluently, but well enough to have a conversation. So this reminds me of Afrikaans. Gesondheid is health in Afrikaans and hallo is an informal greeting. I can read Dutch if I try, but my language is bad. I do know they say dank and hallo. Maybe a few other words...

I guess from that POV it isn´t that hard to learn it because of being related. I usually understand Dutch and a bit Afrikaans because my neighbour is Dutch and often in South Africa. But I can´t write it.

If you want some more tips, I can write you a PM with some links and basics about German. :D

Oh. I’d love that. My grandfather suggested listening to Google Translate and trying to pronounce words, but you don’t always get the right pronunciation.

I mean Apartheid was a bad thing. No need to call it Apart-tight though. Imagine me saying sla-avery instead of slavery... Point is, correct pronunciation is important.

That´s an interesting idea. And after having a vocabulary I would start listening to Podcasts or maybe watching some YT videos.

Yeah, that´s true.

Never thought about that. First, remember words and then learn to say them right, but obviously, something like how certain letters are pronounced would help.

Can you understand this (Afrikaans quiz): Goeie day, Namedy. Ek hoop jy het ‘n lekker dag gehad. Ek het baie werk by die skool gedoen. Ek is nou baie moeg.

I´m learning Spanish right now and I´m doing that at the moment. It helps especially because Spanish people speak fast.

Oh, that´s fun. I guess it means, "Good day, Namedy. I hope you had a delicious (maybe nice) day. I had worked at school. I am now ???

Same with Xhosa and they click when they speak. I just have no chance of getting more than 85% because of verbal marks. I don’t like learning the language... We have 4 languages this year. Xhosa, German, Afrikaans and English.

Translation: Good day, Namedy. I hope you had a nice day. I did a lot of work at school. I am now very tired.

That´s a lot. I never had then three different languages at the time.

I wasn´t so wrong. "baie moeg" was a bit strange for me.

What´s the difference with this thread and the other thread (Last Person to post on page 99 wins)?

Well that's sort of a long story...but tldr, the fifteenth version of this thread, started in like 2017 was kind of frozen. It was revived and completed years later in 2020 by myself and a few others who barely new how the site worked and so when the thread was finished and locked and the time came to make the sixteenth version, one person didn't realize you have to put the same name and update the number but rather made a thread defining sort of the rules of where this thread was meant to end, and so that is still there since 2020, while the more "genuine" thread saw the 16th version end in just over a year, had the seventeeth version finish insanely fast, and then now the 18th version begin...

Although on a more technical note, the difference is that in this thread it ends whenever it is locked and the winner is either who posts before the luck claiming victory or the person who ends up locking, it varies, but so far from what I've seen, the person locking isn't the winner even if they post last notifying that it has been locked.

The other thread however has a sort of rule in its title so regardless of who posts what, ultimately the one who ends up being the final post on page 99 will win.
