Ky glanced at him, then decided Marcella posed and easier question to answer. “We all need to stay together. We’ll find him faster if we all work together. Did you check behind that chair over there?”

(Aha indeed! I was feeling Scorpia vibes last night so I changed it.)

Marcella ran ahead of her brother and cousin and checked behind the chair. "He's not here!" she announced.

“Hmm… where do you think he may be?”

"In your room? Or in the library! Where's the library?"

It made Ky anxious to have people in her bedroom. She wasn’t sure why. But she’d gotten oddly territorial of her bedroom ever since she had one that was truly her own; one with a lock that she had the key to (not that she locked it when she was out, obviously) and one without bars over the windows. “Let’s check the library! It’s right down this way, let’s go see.”

Ky started down the hallway towards it.

Marcella and the boys followed after her, giggling to each other.

Ky listened to the chatter behind her with a smile. She stopped with her hand on the doorknob and turned back to them. “Remember we have to be really really quiet in a library.”

Marcella nodded and whispered, "Okay! We have that rule in our other one too."
"But it's way, way, way, way bigger," Mattathias added. "And the Librarians are mean."

“The librarians here are pretty nice.” Ky pushed the door open. “If you’re quiet. Or they scold you.”

"That's mean." Marcella tiptoed into the library. Mattathias peeked in as Oscar went ahead of him.

Ky spotted Petrir curled up on a nearby chair almost immediately, but hesitated, trying to decide whether she should point him out or whether to let them find him themselves. It would probably cause a shriek of joy if they discovered it but she was interesting to see which kid was most observant and it was worth a glare from a librarian. So she stayed close and watched the kids.

Both Marcella and Oscar saw him immediately and gasped. Mattathias had wandered off to the other side of the library but hurried back when he heard them.
"Did you find him?" he whisper-shouted, and let out a delighted squeal when he saw they had.

Ky smiled, striding forward quickly to get ahead of them. She figured Petrir would do better if she has a chance to mediate. She picked him up and tucked him in the nook of her elbow. He sneezed in protest. She looked at the kids. “Let’s take him back to the hallway.”

"Okay!" Marcella stood on her tiptoes, hopping alongside Ky. "He's so small! How old is he?"

(I keep wondering if I'm portraying four year olds correctly)

(Haha same ngl. I do not like kids, with the exception of my own nieces and nephews, so I’m trying to remember what they were like and how I interacted with them at that age aha)

“Oh, gosh, maybe two months now?” Ky said, striding swiftly towards the door to complete her child and kitten extraction mission. “Do you have any cats?”
