That's ridiculous about the pants. I'm still lucky to find something now and then. Shoes I usually order them online, because at least they have my size.

But now it´s your turn. :D

I dare you to use a poetic structure from this list other than freestyle. Freestyle is fun, but I want to see what else you can do. It doesn't have to rhyme, but it has to follow the rules of whatever form you choose. I'm excited to see what you write!

I wrote a poem using the format “The Fib” basing syllables on the Fibonacci Sequence. It is entitled:

Wonder

Birds
Fly
Out the
Bright green grass
I watch in wonder
As they soar through the clear blue sky
Colourful creatures spiralling towards the heavens
In quick flashes of feathers and glimmers of shimmering white sunlight silhouetting them

@AlmostImmortal I dare you to write a nonce and to tell me how it works.

Oh ho ho, I have three nonce forms I frequently use, @lehmanf. So here we go, it's breakdown time.

Wave Poem
The first nonce form I made is something I call the Wave Poem. Rather than focus on syllable count, all three forms focus on line count. For the Wave Poem, you start with a one-line stanza, also known as a monostich, and then steadily add one more line until you reach the poem's middle. After you reach the centre, you remove one line per stanza until you're back down to a monostich. For example:

Perhaps this is enough.

I am here, breathing this crips air,
feeling the rain patter against my cheeks.

What else could I need in life,
but existence itself?
Doesn't everything else fall into place?

Or am I foolish to think so?
Is life another weapon against my flesh?

Perhaps I was doomed from birth.

Other examples I have are Bloodless; I Bleed from NaPo.

Crescendo Poem
This form starts with monostich and just adds one line every stanza. For example:

Do not flinch, my child.

The wolves do not deserve a reaction.
Don't give them a drink of your pain.

The scars they leave will be your armour.
They will come to fear you in time.
So, value your own strength, little martyr.

Another example would be The Ruined City for NaPo.

Diminuendo Poem
This poem is the exact opposite of a Crescendo Poem. In this form, you start with any number of lines. In the example below, I'll start with a tercet, but in my NaPo Diminuendo, I started with thirteen lines.

I cannot believe you anymore.
You have tarnished my faith to dust,
melted my gold to bronze.

Why should I trust you any longer?
What have you done to deserve it?

My scorn is your fault.

My NaPo Diminuendo was Ballad of the Left Behind.

So there, dare conquered!

Sure! I dare you, @lehmanf, to write a poem using one of my nonce forms. Let's make them a trend. Truth or dare, @MailicedeNamedy?

Oh, wait I already did before even reading this:. It’s a crescendo called:

Don’t Die On Me

This colder season
The Sun’s still shining in the corners
Every gleam still makes me smile
Amazed by the eternal flame

Heart pounding like a stone thrown on the ground
This rainy season
The world’s still a misty haze
Of wet curtains and sheets
Banging on the old iron roof

This snowy season
I cry under the midnight sky
Freezing as I’m slowly blanketed in snowflakes
That shimmer icily on my skin
Specks of ice watering down my eyelashes
As I stare at the moonlit sky

Scream because it hurts
Because it always does
Boil your skin till you can feel the burn again
Till the numbness erodes
Like a mountain weathers over time
Body falling off its side
As the light reappears in your eyes
