Poem #13: Early morning dew

When you need a break from life
Take a walk in the early morning
The sun is rising
Wet dew cleans the air

Birds sing
And breakfast stews

A fawn runs down the trail
A bunny hops across it

It is like
A fairy tale
psalm 147:3- he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Poem #14: Ecosystem

A little brown deer
With white spots on her sides
Gracefully hops into a clearing
Sniffing the ground

Just born recently
Her mother walks behind her
Nudging her along
Showing her young
Right from wrong

A little blueberry bush sits off to one side.
The fawn hops over and nibbles on it.
A little bunny hops by
But the fawn leaves it.

This is an ecosystem
A land of peace and life and death and rebirth
This is life
psalm 147:3- he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Poem #15: The creek

Running down the trail
Barefoot

A bunny hops across
Birds's chips ring in the air

Following the long windy trail
We finally arrive

The water is cold
But we are bold

Too cold.

Tadpoles swim in little ponds
Fry fish jump in the shallow water
We cross to the little island
and get in the really shallow water

We go back and walk across the log
But we lose our balance
and fall in.

Cold water envelopes us
The little ones get out
But I? I stay.
The water isn't cold anymore.

Poem #16:
Winter

snow, falling from the trees
leaves, floating to the ground in whirlwinds on the walkway
green, green trees covered with snow

orange, warm crackling fires indoors
family wrapped in blankets
hot cocoa mug in hands

a bright green tree sitting in the corner
decorated with ornaments
awaits the feeling of wrapped boxes beneath its lower boughs.

This is winter

Poem #17:
Red leaves dancing across the sidewalks
thanking the wind for it's final move

Flowers, slowly wilting
Waiting for spring

Families gathered 'round the table
young children telling jokes

Adults telling old stories
Making room for turkey

But most importantly-
making memories
psalm 147:3- he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Poem #18: Summer

Children play kickball
in the streets
wiping sweat off of their foreheads
grateful for sun

Cherry trees blossoming
pink petals scattered on the ground
blowing in the
dry summer breeze

Cool nights make for
staying up late
celebrating warmth
and happiness

Afternoons cool off
and the sun starts going down the horizon
and we ride our bikes
forever thanking summer
psalm 147:3- he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

hannah you are doing so great! I'm really impressed that you've already made it past the half-way mark and it's only day 5! That's incredible! :) You've got some really adorable springy imagery in a few of these -- Poem #13 & #14 were favorites for me. And your poems as a whole feel like they're painting this delightful little scene that's unfolding before the reader's eyes. :)

Keep up the great work and good luck for the rest of the month!
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return

Poem #19: Spring

Blossoms peeking out of buds
getting ready to grow

Rain, flooding peoples plant filled parking strips
pounding on the tin roof

Squirrels, leaping tree branch to tree branch
between the rainstorms

Green leaves unfolding out of nowhere
spreading spring like a germ

cherry petals falling on the ground
piling up on the sides of the road
psalm 147:3- he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Poem #20: stone girl

i can't be touched
i can't be hurt
go away

i have no feelings
i exist, only in your sub-conscience

i can't can't can't live today
never come back

Poem #21: anger

don't touch me
don't you dare
go away
leave me alone

you can feel the adrenaline
rising in your body

blood pulsing
unable to see

they taunt and tease
they can't touch me

i can only touch them
so leave before i hurt you

it can't happen again
go, please
now
NOW

i can't hurt anyone again
so leave
i don't want to
please, please leave

i'm begging you

please

Poem #22: growing up

i don't want to look different
i don't want to feel different

i don't want to be different

stop changing
i can't handle it

i don't want to know this
this anger
hate
humiliation
embarrassment

i want to stay close
but we are growing apart

please
please
stop, brain
stop, body

Poem #23: pages of a book

words stare up at me
begging to be known
the old, yellowed pages fall off at the slightest touch

they tell an unknown story
one yet to be published
written years ago

i know the book
my great grandmother wrote it herself
back in 1850

it tells an unknown story, though
one that has yet to be read
by someone except for me

it tells the story of hard times, despair
finding little pieces of hope
no matter how dark

it doesn't want to be known
or i don't want it too
the world is too young too know

and perhaps i am too old
at 99 years old
patiently awaiting the day i will go

maybe today
maybe tomorrow
but the book has taught me

every end is a new beginning

i didn't say that cause I saw that in the book of quotes
or cause someone else told me so
i know that because i've lived it myself

and learned it the hard way
so thank you book
for letting me go in peace
psalm 147:3- he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
