Janus was scratching a bit at his scales. He was shedding. This happened every few months or so, and it was a bit painful. He wasn't wearing a shirt.

H-Hey, Remuss... could you, um... could you get my back for me..? For the ssshedding and all?

The old scales were halfway peeled off.

It isn't a monthly thing, it's about every 6 months or so. It usually lasts a day or two.

Remus hated every second of peeling the old scales off, especially when everything was done except for the more... uncomfortable areas...

Remus breathed a huge sigh of relief. He had done it a few times, when Janus was in too much pain to do it himself. He was lucky it wasn't one of those times. He patiently waited for his husband to be done, cleaning up a bit to pass the time. He kept thinking of gross things that he liked to drown out the vision and loud sounds of a hissing half-snake. When Janus came back, he stopped muttering words to himself about roadkill and how honey is actually made.

Your scales look shiny, that means they're fresh and healthy, that's good... um...

Honesty rose up, holding Sweetpea.

Um... I-I heard you were shedding and I brought Sweetpea to help comfort you...

He gently placed Sweetpea on the bed near Janus. the badger curled up next to the half snake and smiled, nuzzling Janus' human hand for pets and pats. Honesty matched the smile.
