He slowly held his hand out. The last thing he wanted to do was startle him. "Hello," he gently said, even though he doubted the loch ness monster really understood what he was saying.

It sniffs him.
"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

@DemonGoddess, I think this might be a good time to join back in! Maahes is using a different guise now, so your character probably won't be able to recognize him. He's also going by Maahes now - even though he originally said his name was Leo.

Knowing that there was no longer the chance of startling him, Maahes reached his hand out and began to pet him. A smile graced his lips at the exchange. This was why he loved going to new places; he was meant to explore.

"Nice, ain't he? Why don't you grab a leg and give it to him?"

"He is," Maahes replied. After a moment of hesitation, he grabbed one of the legs and threw it to him.

The beast snatches it mid-air and gulps it down.

As the monster finished eating his meal, Maahes looked around at his surroundings. Now that he knew about the hidden strangeness of the town, he was eager to spot other little anomalies that he had previously glazed over. While he was doing so, he saw someone walk by. Hadn't they talked to her the day before?

Xi looked over and saw them. She waved and smiled.

He started to raise a hand to wave back at her, only to lower it when he realized that he looked like a complete stranger. He ducked his head down to avoid her gaze. Rowan had said that it was alright for him to take a different guise, but was it really? He had forgotten how disconcerting it could be for a complete stranger to act as if they were close friends; separating his preferred guises with different names and personalities had truly made it easy to deal with the complex connections he shared with other people.

Xi walked over to them. “Hey Rowan, who’s this?”

"Leo, the guy I let sleep on my couch yesterday. Apparently he's an alien. How 'bout that? Figured if he's from outer space there's no harm in letting him see Lochy. Hasn't gone after your pole again, has he?"

"You can call me Maahes," he quietly interrupted, grateful for Rowan's explanation. He gave Xi a shy smile.
