It moved. He can sense it go past him, heading in the direction of the hotel. Shadowy wings unfurl and he leaps to the air in hot pursuit.

DeeDee swears and swerves suddenly, soaring over Cornyx. She dives towards the mountains like a peregrine falcon and lands in a river with a splash. "Get off," she says to Alex.
