@kriti Welcome to the site! That's a good question. Folders are used to organize your literary works, to separate them by genre or type or pretty much whatever you want. For example, many users have one folder for their short stories and one for their poetry. It's also common to make a separate folder for chapters of a novel you're working one.
However, another person's Welcome Mat thread isn't where you should post your questions. Feel free to make your own Welcome Mat thread to introduce yourself and ask those questions, or post them in the Ask a Question Here thread. You can also always ask a moderator directly (we're the people with green or red usernames).
Also, if you haven't already, you may want to read through our FAQ for New Users, as it answers a lot of basic questions about the site.
