The World Forum

What this Storybook brings to the table is a setting so vast, it spans far more than a state, far more than a nation or event a continent... This Storybook spans an entire globe!

Nothing new, I suppose... but, what if I were to say that upon this globe, each Storybooker was granted massive ability to worldbuild? Does that pique your interest?

Of course, you won't be working alone. You won't even be working as an individual entity... Instead, you'll control a nation, an entire population of people with a society, economy, and set of beliefs! Exciting, isn't it? And, in natural form of working with such large tracts of land, there will be comprises... or, disputes... with other Storybookers! Thus, will shape the world and plot as we know it!

Explore the economy by tweaking imports and exports, imposing embargos, and providing to third-world nations.

Dominate politics through questionable legislation (National Milk Day, anyone?) and even more questionable politicians.

Affect foreign policy by warring with other nations, or forging delicate alliances...

And, much, much more.

So, what are you waiting for, President / Dictator / General / Prime Minister? Get out there and rule! Though, be cautious, as you may catch the wary eye of the World Forum!

This will not be your conventional Storybook, if you've not already taken notice to that! Rather than controlling a single character along a single plot, participants will be making informed (or very, very poor--banning cars?) decisions that will affect the landscape of their world, and the landscape of other nations!

Deliberate with other nations, or decimate them. The choice is up to you. Though, do exercise some caution (optional). These sorts of things require expert care (speaking of... who cares?).

The Congress, split between liberals and conservatives, disputes legislation that would cause carbon emissions to disappear overnight by banning the use of cars.

This year's deliberations regarding the state of the world are scheduled for March 1, 2040, promptly at 12:00 A.M. (MIDNIGHT) GMT. Please adequately prepare all delegates, as per the mandate below, and send them by April 20, 2040, promptly at 10:00 A.M. GMT for processing.

To emphasize the economic advances to be undertaken by the World Forum for all member nations, and third-world nations, this year's representation will be based on economic status. Until further notice, the allotted quantity of delegates:

THE REPUBLIC OF HEXADON WILL BE PROVIDED TEN SLOTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES.

THE THEOCRACY OF ARLYNIA WILL BE PROVIDED FIVE SLOTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES.

"At this time," says Chairman of Legislature Rodney Willis, "we are unable to collect a sufficient amount of delegates to satisfy our World Forum allotment, especially after the threats received by many of our top politicians following last month's Senate Caucus."

The Caucus, of December 2039 A.D., had been scheduled to begin at noon, in order to discuss who to remove from the Congress and who to induct. Heated debates soon became violent confrontations amongst the more radical Senators, who took to fistfights on the debate floor. The Cythorian National Guard was called in to expunge the threat, detaining two dozen potential delegates.

"Many of them have no wish to return to the political landscape. We do expect to see some reforms, however."

Reports from the Bureau of Environmental Conservation, heavily defunded in recent years, show immense increases of carbon emissions over the last decade, the numbers rising by at least 25.00% in the last three years alone!

"These toxic gases being pumped into the air serve no other purpose beyond polluting our airspace," says environmental activist Wyatt Greene.

Greene suggests that acid rain levels have seen an incline of two inches in the past decade, and that Cythoria's emissions account for a quarter of the global warming experienced by the world.

President Looker's Cabinet meets with the Senate later this year to discuss possible measures.

Cythoria posts two armed battleships near an oil rig off the coast of Albia. Though hardly visible from the shore, Cythorian Intelligence has intercepted several reports from employees of the oil rig.

We, the Leadership of the Federation of Cythoria, must regretfully inform the World Forum that only fifteen of the twenty allotted delegates will be sent to this year's session.

"We may be lower in economic status compared to other nations, but we deserve the same number of representatives as any other nation in the World Forum. We have been informed that The Federation of Cythoria will not be able to satisfy their allotted number of representatives and request to send 5 additional representatives to help satisfy the number of representatives asked for in total."

In recent news pertaining to the peace talks in late 2038 A.D. The Theocracy of Arlynia will send 2 ambassadors to the Republic of Hexadon to finalize plans for an alliance between the two nations.

Arlynia will precede to send Cirena, the Priestess of the Isle of Neith and Macalon, Priest of the isle of Gamona.

"We are looking forwards to continuing the recent plans of a partnership with the Republic of Hexadon." mentioned Cirena. "The Republic of Hexadon has many resources that could be used to our advantage and we are looking forward to what the future will hold. May the Goddess look down upon us all."

"As stricter laws regarding immigration, emigration and citizenship are implemented, our trade is becoming more and more restricted, and our country less and less diverse," one anonymous reactionary wrote. Among other things, the new policy decrees citizenship cannot be gained or influenced by marriage or civil partnership.
"The policies have been implemented to ensure our people are not cheated of their money, and continue to get the quality and value that Amiga offers," a spokesperson stated, in response to the criticism.

A second Nuclear Power plant is being built, a few miles away from the existing one. Scheduled to be complete within a year, this should cope with the growing need for power in Albia, and combat dwindling oil reserves in one of Albia's largest offshore oil rigs.
"Sure, oil doesn't last forever," one of the protesters commented, "but then again, nuclear waste does."

A number of security measures have been taken to deter potential smugglers attempting to avoid the heavy import taxes. High Definition security cameras have been installed all along the border, and Visas are now required for any entry to the country by a none citizen. These must me carried at all times.
