Let's let the times we didn't wake up
plant themselves in a row next to the guilt
of things we didn't say
and regret can water it
When they ask, show them away

Holyrocks, some of your poems are so aching I'm in love with them, #8 is excruciating in its universality. To feel this way about siblings is almost expected, it is wonderful, beautifully expressed. I'm well into the experimentation with form in #10 as well, it's interesting and different.

I've been hella impressed by how you've stuck with this and the diverse range of images you've been able to call to your voice. I look forward to more. :)
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

it was result of
her desire to pursue the rivers in her ears

a goodbye letter

*

you threw me to the ground
you bled lies down your cheeks
you claim the privilege of raising me
but you slashed my mom to a post
and you taught us to hate
those who loved us

you might have thought what you did was right
but your words have made grown men cry
and all you wanted was control
you didn't love me
you couldn't love us
not even if you tried

and now you have the gulls to worm your way into our bubble?
you wanted nothing to do with us
you are the only reason you're alone

so get out
get out.
Leave. Now.

You are not allowed in my dreams anymore
You are not permitted to hurt my family, see us, or use my name.

I'm taking the key to the chest where your memory of me if kept. Say goodbye to the girl who baked you cookies in exchange for hugs. Say goodbye to the quiet one.

Do not touch my life; you've done enough.

leave

a daisy in a mirror...
she bows to the breeze
let the cadence call:
bring forth, bring forth
a blunted sheer

I'd never flown before
hands pushed me to the sky
waiting for gravity to shift
I landed on a memory

a girl

saving herself from a bed of seafoam
~which was not blue-green~
and it felt as a wet feline does:
anger and fear

brittle, we look for the key;
locked in our mind, a chip
look high,
look low-
we can not break the seal
without lemonade
or wild roses
which tastes sour, or of perfume
depending on your financial status

it folds in on her heart
like barbed wire
she bleeds without regret
and the question still begs, begs
for Redemtion
she answers like she knows, knows
she Must
for her skin prickles not from the cold, from
the memory that her father answered:

let it fall. we are done playing hide-and-seek with arrows in our smiles, the sound of bodies meeting the earth - our base - let it fall.

the weather man frowns at rain one more time- and I'll be on about their ironic behaviour. curse the thunder and the thunder curses you. look to the other frame, where your buddy's watering a decaying lawn. you don't even realize where your dinner comes from. we're out here burning as we fight a fire that your men made, and you complain about the shadow of rain clouds.

as the sun partakes in her daily disappearing act
the crickets sing
and the toads are the base
the last beams casting on the sullen lake
you sit there because it's what we do
you sit there because it's sanity
your sanity
but I sit there because this is my resting place
watching you is a pleasure-
but there's a sour taste on my tongue
as I see him lay his arm on you

the shield rams onto me
I run to the sword
wondering when it came to this-
when what was my protection
became harmful
to the point where I embraced my enemy

so now we make the decision: stay with what we know, or face the unknown? don't let me gamble my future away.

tell us what it's like sleeping in a pocket
where your dreams are doll-size
a place you'll remember when the wall paper peeled back
revealing scandalous thoughts you burry under
thousands of wandering contradictions

not even dragons can wake you from your delusion
of paper toys and talking antiseptics
it's a privledge that your nose is still straight
recall that the next time some troubled creature throws a punch

in her bed
she's ignoring the buzz that's invading her ears-
she's looking for something
but she's never seen it before

in a ship on the ocean
she's beyond the waves-
she's looking for something
something she's never seen before

in a daze on another plain
she's waiting for the fog to clear
she's looking for something
but she doesn't know it's name

quietly she regrets the seconds
spent binding bridges into highways
a rope a day
and tangled even so
until they unravelled
setting loose the fear
of the sky falling

but if she learns to fly
images of breaking her wings
will remain in her future's eye

they have a box marked
with the seal of a lost heart
and not even the strongest wings
can rescue you from yourself
